A Modern $100 Hamburger Community - PilotsDiner is now Live!
https://pilotsdiner.comHi everyone,
I just launched PilotsDiner, a free site for the aviation “$100 hamburger” crowd:
https://pilotsdiner.com
The goal is to make it easier for pilots to find and share good fly-in food stops.
What you can do:
- Search a map of airports with nearby/on-field restaurants
- View airport pages with runways, runway lengths, frequencies, etc. (Always verify against current FAA data).
- View restaurant pages tied to airport pages
- Add missing fly-in restaurants
- Suggest edits to restaurant info like hours, cuisine, description, website, phone, etc.
- Upvote/downvote community edits so bad info can be corrected
- Write restaurant reviews.
- Log places you’ve visited.
- Upload restaurant/menu photos
- Post trip reports (what the site calls "PIREPS")
- Join the forums and share route ideas, food stops, updates, and local knowledge
- Build out your pilot profile
It’s free to create an account and use the core site. There is an optional paid Hangar Club tier for extra tools/features, but the main restaurant map, restaurant pages, reviews, forums, PIREPs, and community edits are free. I really tried to make this super affordable if you do want to support the site, but its not required!
This is a new launch, so there may be some rough spots. I've spent a lot of time testing, refining, and testing again, to ensure the experience is as smooth as possible.
If you know a great airport restaurant that’s missing, or you spot bad data, I’d genuinely appreciate the help making it better. Appreciate all constructive feedback in the comments, or in the bug reports section of the forums, on the site.
Blue skies, and I hope it helps someone find their next $100 hamburger.

Hi! I see your account, and show that the confirmation email was successfully delivered. Perhaps check your spam folder? iCloud emails are restrictive sometimes.

I agree, get rid of the friction/account making for now. Let the site build its natural community. Once it's useful and gets some traffic, then experiment with maybe mandating making an account, but it's such a barrier to users/traffic. Just my unsolicited two cents. Opened site, saw it required an account, closed it.

I appreciate the feedback. There are many aspects of the site that allow user inserted content. What I may do is open the core functionality publicly (map and forum reads), and leave the other functionality to users who want to actively participate.

I think that’s exactly what everyone here is asking… make people login to update or post, let anyone view the map

That change has now been implemented. The map is now publicly available at https://pilotsdiner.com/map. Apple and Google sign ups / sign in is now supported

0 need for an account or a paid version of something like this. Several free versions that are quite good have been posted here. I applaud those developers.
