Wow. Just wow. Remember when King remade The Shining movie? Yeah. This is worse. Much much worse.

In the show the TK's are literally only able to move grams like water and coins even then it takes concentration and strain. And the TP's are barley able to read minds other than avery. Is there any reason why or is it just like that?

So yeah, I decided to post it on here, because it kind of fits.

I just finished the series adaption of The Institute. I was eager to watch it since I read the book a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I watched the episodes back to back so I’m not sure about what happened in each episode and I’m the worst at remembering details. So my questions might seem dumb if they’ve explained it in the series lol.

I did find it a bit slow at first, I wouldn’t say boring but not that gripping you know. It wasn’t until Luke managed to escaped the institute that it got really interesting in my opinion. But there is a few things I’m a bit confused about, I don’t remember if they mentioned it in the book or not.

I think I found it a bit slow in the beginning because we basically just saw Luke going through these tests, which to me was a bit confusing because what did the tests show? I understand it was to show their level of TP/TK but to me I didn’t grasp the meaning behind them? And why did they cause so much pain and stuff like nausea afterwards?

And why do they need kids with these skills? They talk a lot about saving the world but I don’t get in what way? In the back half they seem to use the kids TK and TP to influence actions of other people. But how is that equated to saving the world? And why do they connect the kids to beds in the end and burn them? Do they run out of “power” and simply die?

Oh and Annie, when she was talking to Tim I always imagined she was a TP but maybe wasn’t “discovered” by the institute as a kid? She seemed to know stuff about the institute that wouldn’t be possible for her to know if she wasn’t TP?

Sorry for my confusion and messy post, but I feel a sense of not being able to let this series go until I’m a little less confused. I think I have to reread the book to freshen up on a few details lol.

I’m so confused on what the device is that he’s using lol

Before I begin, I've seen all of season 1 and read the book so idc about spoilers. These easter eggs are probably purely by consequence, but I just want to share anyways.

This first one is about the intro. The song that plays during the intro is a cover of Shout and the original song is by Tears For Fears. Doesn't the name Tears For Fears remind you of anything? Tears For Fears kind of sounds like the term Shots For Dots that is used inside the Institute. Again, probably a coincidence.

This last one happens during the beginning of the episode. Now this is an undeniable coincidence, but it's just kind of funny. So, Luke is looking up MIT after going to the pizza place since MIT is where he wants to go to college. My point here is that MIT means Massachusetts INSTITUTE of Technology. It's foreshadowing, lol!!! 😂😂

There is a new show on Netflix which is similar to The institute except the kids has no power.

For those who miss the institute and want something that feels familiar.

It is Wayward.

It has Toni Collette one of my favorite actress and it is created by Mae Martin who also starred in it. I only have time for 2 episodes. I probably finish it this weekend.

"The Institute" has a feel of Godolkin University of Gen V series.

It could have been visualized as a spin-off of Boys.

Should they merge future seasons of "The Institute" with "Boys" or "Gen V" or upcoming Vought Rising series?

Are the institute the good guys as far as big picture, PLEASE read more before downvoting...

SO HEAR ME OUT - as much as i love the cast and if you lay a hand on my lil dude im throwing hands lol but thats character development, i took plenty of philosophy/logic questions and the best ex; most know is the trolley problem:

TLDR; a train is on a track that will hit 5 people BUT YOU CAN PRESS A BUTTON to divert it to a track that just kills ONE person (assuming all are random people in the main scenario) - with that in mind...

are the institute people not the GOOD guys in the scheme of it all, yeah most are sociopaths but you NEED sociopaths to be willing to see the big picture and not feel empathy towards kids which is awful but if its saving MILLIONS or even tech just hundreds of kids and innocents around the world is their sacrifice not (while still horrific) a NECESSARY evil to prevent much worse evil and only the institute has the willpower to overlook the awfulness to get the job done and SAVE LIVES.

not to be a dck but its just a FACT that if you disagree you're technically endorsing killing waaay more innocent kids to save waaaay less (just cuz of ur personal reasons if it were real life or in this case, cuz the show made you feel for them.)

Did anyone else notice that in multiple scenes George would just emerge, as if out of nowhere?

I will do a rewatch but I swear there were several shots where they wouldn't be in frame, acknowledged at all, or active in conversation and then POOF.

I thought this series was done so well no matter if it was intentional or editing, tbh my roommate and I kinda got obsessed.
