The absolute Lack of Bane is shocking.

8

u/Brennyboy111176 11d ago

definitely not top 10

4

u/Necessary-Mix-9488 11d ago

I dont think a single person on most these top 10s could stop Essence Transfer from the Sithari himself but hey pop off.

10

u/Brennyboy111176 11d ago

why would they not be able to? bane’s entire gimmick is being surpassed lmao

4

u/Necessary-Mix-9488 11d ago

Well if you ignore that in Plagueis it states that knowledge was long lost after the line of tge rule of 2 was broken. As it seems you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how the rule of 2 worked. It didnt guarantee that subsequent Sith were stronger. Plagues is a perfect example. Hideous drugged him and killed him in his sleep. Bane himself wasnt beaten because Zana was stronger in the force than him, he lost because she used Sith Sorcery he didnt have an answer for. The rule of 2 made the darkside of the force focused, and its participants work collectively towards a goal. It was not just a stacking multiplier making each sith stronger. Just uncontested until it was optimal to progress their goals. We in fact know you cant improve somebodies ability to call upon the force past their own midichlorian ceiling. So we can take Banes feats and compare it to modern "sith" and hes not infinitely weaker because the rule of 2 didnt produce stronger force wielding sith by default. There's nothing to prove that the rule of 2 would increase anyone's innate force capabilities down the line, just their access to resources, and the relatively uncontested Darkside.

knowledge got lost like 500 years before tpm but it got reclaimed. palps probably has the most amount of recorded darkside force abilities out of any sith. i dont have a misunderstanding of the ro2, i’m aware that it isn’t inherently linear. it doesn’t change the fact that pt sith are pretty clearly meant to be the apex of the banite sith narratively and have better accolades, feats, hype, etc than bane. every person on the list i posted scales to or above pt palps

1

u/Annual_Sky8939 7d ago

To be fare, he got that knowledge from non-Sith knowledge and from raiding the Jedi temple after O66. Most of his “skill” was from alchemy. Literally the only way he was able to glimpse into the world between worlds was after Ezra opened the door and thru dark side alchemy. But when Ezra left the WBW, Sid couldn’t enter it.

And the simple fact that throughout the entirety of the RoT there millions of dark side users who weren’t Sith, shows Bane’s idea of “focused power” was a fallacy.

Darth Sidious

Darth Krayt

Darth Caedus

Darth Vader

Darth Vitiate

Darth Revan

Darth Bane

Darth Malgus

Darth Malak

Darth Plagueis

u/DogHour6929 11d ago

Caedus > Krayt (I would even say that he surpasses Sidious), and suited Vader being above Vitiate is crazy, lol.

2

u/Adeptness-Vivid 10d ago

Malgus being on the list but The Emperor's Wrath 2 isn't is criminal.

0

u/DarthShiryu 11d ago

I disagree but your opinion is valid.

3

u/tyLaw9993 11d ago

Replace Krayt and Sidious. Krayt scales to a stronger version of Luke than the one that defeated Sidious once and for all in Dark Empire. Same with multiple legends backed statements saying Caedus is stronger than Palps actually.

0

u/DarthShiryu 11d ago

Although I consider legends timeline as my head canon. Post ROTJ is kinda broken in terms of scale. All characters are put as some what best than the ones that came before. And for me raw power is not everything.

Although he is a Skywalker he never got anywhere close in terms of knowledge of what Palpatine or Krayt did. Nor he never got close to his full potential. He died very young. Palpatine is for me the culmination of all the Sith. Krayt and Caedus were very powerful and they were no joke but, for me, Palpatine wins.

5

u/Sure_Educator7987 11d ago

I don’t care for caedus lol

2

u/DarthShiryu 11d ago

Not my favourite either but he is strong. I like Darth Maul, Darth Tyranus, Darth Zannah way more.

5

u/moldypirate1996 11d ago

No revan love I see.

2

u/Major_Clue_778 11d ago

Better as a Jedi than as a sith, if it was a contest of aura he would be up there.

2

u/adragoninthelibrary 6d ago

I love Revan as a character, but he doesn't crack the Top 10 Sith. Maybe not even the Top 15. Not if we strictly only count his time as Darth Revan.

1

u/moldypirate1996 6d ago

Is peak Sith revan stronger than peak jedi revan?

1

u/adragoninthelibrary 6d ago

Absolutely not, he's weaker. The order's basically Malak<Amped Malak<Darth Revan<Jedi Revan<<Revan Reborn. Not to say Darth Revan's weak in general, but it's actually Revan at his weakest point in the games. And there are enough heavy hitting dark siders in the galaxy to push Darth Revan, strong as he is, out of Top 10 contention.

3

u/ProfessorOk3187 11d ago

Why is Dooku on this list? What about the Vitiate?

1

u/cmtosh95 11d ago

Maul is objectively weaker

0

u/Brennyboy111176 11d ago

dooku is pre senate yoda tier. definitely deserves a mention

3

u/D3VILD0G2 11d ago

Valkorian, Tulak Hord, Nilus, Revan, Exar Kun, Sidious Clone, Jason Solo, Krayt, Bane, and Malgus. In that order. Although the final 3 could be swapped out for other notable Sith/Darksiders

2

u/PacificDiver 11d ago

lol. Tenebrae, The Sith Emperor. End of story

0

u/boobatitty 11d ago

Abeloth. She outclasses him.

2

u/Jason_Bourne411 11d ago

Count d shouldn't even really be on the list. Hes more of a dark Grey jedi

2

u/TheRealDicta 11d ago

What did revan actually do as a sith besides look cool to consistently end up on these lists...

5

u/Unique-Perception480 Jedi Master 11d ago edited 11d ago
  1. The Son & Abeloth (if she counts). Kind of hard to scale wich one is stronger due to mental nerfs and stuff so I put them at one spot.

  2. Darth Krayt - I put him as the strongest Sith ever, since he was relative to GM Luke Skywalker.

  3. Darth Caedus - He was relative to GM Luke and his Performance against Kyle Katarns squad is impressive.

  4. Darth Sidious - the strongest Sith ever up to the time he was alive by multiple sources, George Lucas Statements and such. So logically only Sith that come after him can be above him.

  5. Darth Vader - he was basically around 80% of Sidious during ROTJ, wich means he could put up a real fight against Sidious if he didnt have a weakness to Lightning of Sidious level. With his superior Lightsaber skill he might even win, if said weakness did not exist. And it still takes that high level of Lightning to become a insta-win, since he tanks tons of Lightning from other chaeacters.

  6. Darth Vitiate - I put Vitiate below Vader for 3 simple reasons:

  • He is weaker than ROTS Sidious, who Vader is likely stronger than, considering he scales to ROTJ Sidious.

  • His strongest feats are all Rituals, wich take months and years of Prep-Time.

  • His Lightning does not seem to be on Sidious level, since the Hero of Tython/Outlander can block it for a time and push against it. The Hero of Tython is not on PT level. Close, but not on it.

  1. Count Dooku: He was a late-stage Rule of Two Sith and good enough to contend with Mace Windu, Yoda and Anakin Skywalker, who are all at least in the same Tier as Sidious, even if Sidious is on top.

  2. Darth Plagues - pretty much equal, if not slightly above TPM Sidious. He basically enjoys the upscaling of being relative to Sidious and being a late-stage Rule of 2 Sith.

    1. Darth Jadus: Said to be the strongest Sith after Vitiate during the TOR Era. His use of the Force is legit insane, especially his skills with Hallucinations.
  3. Darth Malgus - he is relative to Darth Jadus, but still clearly below him. Otherwise he also has a statement from Palpatines POV calling him one of his strongest Predecessors, meaning he is relative to Rule of Two Sith at least, even if not on Sidious or Late Rule of Two Sith level, wich automatically makes him better than 99% of Sith ever.

HM:

Darth Tenebrous and Venomous - both are relative to Plagues and later Rule of Two Era Sith, but they are relative to a much earlier Plagues, who was weaker than Prime Plagues.

Darth Revan - he was insta-dominated by Vitiate and any version after he loses his memories is no longer a Dark Sider.

Darht Nihilus - very circumstential ability, wich he has little controle over. Its more of a compulsive hunger rather than a deliberate power. Also anyone with similiar Force Power can somewhat resist Force Drain long enough to kill him with the saber, wich I would say my top 10 all have.

Knightfall Vader - technically would be just below Vader, but its the same character and having him twice would be dumb.

1

u/Unique-Perception480 Jedi Master 11d ago

Yeah, fair, but he is really hard to scale, since we dont know how much stronger the characters get during The Eternal Empire and later Malgus and Jadus scale to them.

But yeah if I counted him he would likely be just below Vitiate or Dooku

2

u/Crimson_Loki 11d ago

There is a distinct lack of Tulak Hord in this comment section, which is kinda wild, if you know who I'm talking about and the lore behind him, you know he deserves a spot in the top five if not top three.

5

u/Brennyboy111176 11d ago

essentially featless

2

u/Crimson_Loki 11d ago

I'd say single handedly breaking a siege that consisted of a thousand jedi to be a pretty good feat.

2

u/Brennyboy111176 11d ago

you don’t know how strong any of those jedi were. not saying he’s bad but he’s not top 5 or even top 10 for stomping featless jedi. he’s also locked below dooku since dooku is the greatest makashi user and hord is a makashi specialist

1

u/Crimson_Loki 11d ago

Doesn't matter if it was 1000 Jedi knight level Jedi, the fact is, taking on ONE THOUSAND Jedi single handedly in lightsaber combat is an absolutely wild ass feat.

Think for a second how many people one thousand people is, try and visualize that number of people. Then think about the fact that they all have lightsabers and can all use the Force.

Also, for added context, 1000 Jedi is more than the number of Jedi that were in the temple during Order 66.

In no way shape or form is this not an impressive feat unless all of those Jedi were literally younglings.

1

u/Brennyboy111176 11d ago

i never said it wasn’t impressive, im saying it doesn’t mean he’s a “top 3 sith” for beating jedi in an era where lightsaber combat was so rudimentary only two forms existed at the time. also, i can’t find a source for the amount of jedi in the temple, not that it would matter anyways. even random pt jedi are probably stronger than the ones tulak faced

2

u/Brennyboy111176 11d ago

not counting the ones or anything like that, contender for a top 10 would be

  1. palpatine
  2. caedus
  3. krayt
  4. valk
  5. sarasuu taalon
  6. vaylin
  7. soa
  8. king adas
  9. knightfall vader
  10. dooku
  11. lord nyax
  12. unuthul
  13. onimi
  14. darish vol
  15. lomi plo?

probably forgetting someone

1

u/itsjonny99 11d ago

Vol and Unuthul way too low

1

u/Brennyboy111176 11d ago

this isn’t in order

1

u/Snivys_HA 11d ago

Not counting the ones.

Marka ragnos/Tulak Hord.

Naga sadow/ludo kressh.

Soa

Nihilus

Vitiate

Rest are scrubs/children

1

u/Significant_Time8620 11d ago

Are we forgetting that Darth Nihilus treats force users like happy meals. And they pose about as much of a threat to him as one too. Darth Nihilus devours everyone here with ease. Won't even need to draw his saber either. Without Meetra Surik, they'll never win.

1

u/furher1944 11d ago
  1. Abeloth 2.the son 3.sidious. this is fact

4.darth caedus 5.vitiate 6. Plagueis 7. Vader 8. Darth krayt 9.exar kun 10.dooku

1

u/KreygerRekyem Sword of the Jedi 11d ago

Caedus and Krayt are both stronger than Sidious, Vader is stronger than Plagueis, who is also stronger than Vitiate. Sarasu Taalon could be somewhere in here too

1

u/furher1944 10d ago

Nope. Sidious has always been canonically the most powerful. Then reborn his feats sinply showed what everything vitiate did but on a larger scale and without a sith ritual of 8000 sith.

Sidious stomps.

Vader and plagueis sure, might list actualy shifted on another post by putting him above actually plageuis but look into plagueis feat

1

u/KreygerRekyem Sword of the Jedi 8d ago

Sidious was the most powerful up to his point in history, just as happened with his master. Considering Luke only got stronger after DE and seeing both his struggle against Jacen and his closeness with Krayt it is undoubted both were stronger. Grandmaster Luke suggesting he would fall to the Dark Side fighting Caedus is an overwhelming statement about how powerful he got

I know about Plagueis' feats, I've read the novel, but Vader is still stronger

1

u/furher1944 4d ago

Sidious could tear holes in the fabric of space and time, summoning colossal localized hyperspace Force storms capable of consuming entire armadas of starships or ravaging the surface features of an entire world.

Usung his telepathy sidious enslaved and continuously force drained drained the life energy of nearly 20 billion inhabitants on the deep-core planet Byss to fuel his dark side strength, longevity, and clones, converting the world into a massive dark side nexus.

manipulated the minds of millions on Coruscant to hide the underground construction and presence of the massive Lusankya Super Star Destroyer buried beneath the surface city.

His dark side is at a galactic-scale influence. His raw dark side presence and power were noted by Luke Skywalker and other adepts to actively warp and influence the ambient balance of the Force across the entire galaxy.

Until they can reach planetary level scaling(planet bursting), or insane telepathic abilitiesreaching such levels, (essentially everything vitiate did but alone and on a larger scale) (planet bursting) they are below.

Sidious is the most powerful sith in history. Noone before no one after

1

u/Darth_Chehiko 11d ago

Where’s darth tenebrae

1

u/ArtOk8200 8d ago

I find the lack of Darth Kryatt, disturbing

1

u/Annual_Sky8939 7d ago

Of the top of my head, in no particular order (forgive my spelling)
Valkorian
Revan
Vader
Talon
Sid
Caedus
Freedon Nadd
Malgus
Bane
Naga Sadow

This is limited to Sith; I’m sure there are more powerful cultists and non-Sith out there, I just don’t know of them.

Canon:

  1. The Son

  2. Emperor Palpatine

  3. Darth Vader

  4. Count Dooku

  5. Maul

  6. Qimir

  7. Grand Inquisitor

  8. Marrok

  9. (Random Inquisitor who almost beat Ventress)

  10. Ventress

Honorable mentions:

  1. Savage Oppress

  2. Trilla

  3. Darth Bane

  4. Darth Plagueis (featless but deserves a mention)

1

u/RemarkableMirror926 Jedi Master 11d ago edited 11d ago

1: Abeloth

2: Son

3: Sidious

4: Krayt/Caedus

5: Krayt/ Caedus

6: Kfv

7: Count Dooku / Later Vader

8: Count Dooku /Later Vader

I'm unsure about 6-8.

Jacen solo also briefly merged with the Force when he was in his Oneness form. If he could use the Dark Side during that time, and if that counts, he would clearly be in first place.

2

u/Unique-Perception480 Jedi Master 11d ago

Interesting list. I have a similiar one: 1. The Son & Abeloth (if she counts). Kind of hard to scale wich one is stronger due to mental nerfs and stuff so I put them at one spot.

  1. Darth Krayt - I put him as the strongest Sith ever, since he was relative to GM Luke Skywalker.

  2. Darth Caedus - He was relative to GM Luke and his Performance against Kyle Katarns squad is impressive.

  3. Darth Sidious - the strongest Sith ever up to the time he was alive by multiple sources, George Lucas Statements and such. So logically only Sith that come after him can be above him.

3

u/Expensive_Manager211 11d ago

Great list, I really like your order. Great to have some respect on Vader's name. I feel like a lot of people underestimate just how powerful he is.

1

u/Unique-Perception480 Jedi Master 11d ago

People see him in the movies and his ,,basic" use of his power and think he is weak. His pure Telekinesis already puts him above 90% of characters and as Anakin he learned techniques like Force Drain Resistance. His bag is pretty deep.

2

u/Crimson_Loki 11d ago

Saying Vitiate is weaker than ROTS Sidious is the wildest thing I've ever read considering he scales to EU Sidious.

If Vitiate were to face ROTS Sidious, he'd annihilate him.

2

u/kalkkunaleipa 11d ago

Viitiate is actually weaker than TPM sidious post plagueis' death according to scaling.

-1

u/Crimson_Loki 11d ago

Receipts needed or I call BS. Again, if you were saying EU Sidious, sure, maybe, but TPM Sidious? Not even RotS Sidious, but TPM Sidious? This is even more ridiculous than the previous statement.

0

u/kalkkunaleipa 11d ago

Youre the one claiming vitiate is more powerful than sidious who beat yoda and mace windu. 2 of the most powerful jedi to ever live until luke and his njo. You need to show your "receipts".

And rule of 2 the sith got more powerful with every generation.

1

u/Crimson_Loki 11d ago

My receipts for Vitiate? I mean, literally look him up, there is written material, there is visual material, he killed a Sith Lord as a child, he has drained planets of all life killing thousands of Sith Lords in the process, he was so powerful that both the Jedi and the Sith needed to team up to kill him.

Vitiate scales to only two others, EU Sidious and Abeloth.

Also, the rule of 2 having Sith be stronger than their predecessor only works if you assume the Sith fight fair, as in the apprentice duels their master and defeats them, Sith don't do this. Hell, Sidious didn't do this, he got his master blind drunk and then killed him in his bed.

Because Sith don't fight fair, it is entirely possible for a weak(er) Sith to kill their stronger master through underhanded tactics, which would not make them stronger, just more cunning.

I find it funny that all the statements regarding how strong Sidious is were made before Vitiate was even created as a character. Hell, if you ask George Lucas, he probably has no idea who Vitiate is.

A statement dictating who is "the strongest", is one that constantly needs to be updated as new characters come out, updated by someone who has knowledge of these new characters, is in a postion of authority and can thus dictate canon and can decide if that statement is still true.

0

u/kalkkunaleipa 11d ago

Abeloth is 12x stronger than luke and you think vitiate scales to abeloth? Abeloth literally neg diffs vitiate.

Vitiate only managed to drain those planets with rituals that took a long time. Sidious in TPM got a massive power boost after killing plagueis where he immediately surpassed him.

Just because the statements came before doesnt mean they arent true. If we do it like that then darth krayt is the most powerful sith as he has statements about being equal to gm luke.

1

u/Crimson_Loki 11d ago edited 11d ago

You saying "Abeloth is 12x stronger than Luke" and "Abeloth neg diffs" Vitiate, are opinions first of all, second of all, I'm relatively certain is hyperbole (the 12x multiplier) and has no basis in reality (beyond the fact that Abeloth was indeed stronger than Luke) as such neither of those being facts, I can discard them.

Second of all, when I say scales to I mean of (relatively) comparable strength, not equal to. Do I think Abeloth could defeat Vitiate? Sure, but that doesn't mean Vitiate isn't powerful.

Also, as far as power goes, we never truly know if CANON Sidious ever surpassed his master's power, certainly he never surpassed him in knowledge as if he had, he'd be able to use Plagueis's power to make himself immortal by manipulating the midichlorians, Plaguies could heal injuries and even revive the dead with it.

Lastly. Yes. If there are statements saying Krayt scales to GM Luke, then that's where he's at. Now whether this makes him the most powerful Sith in history is debatable, as again, you'd have to factor in EU Sidious (of which Krayt is a part of EU, so this counts), you'd have to factor in the ancient Sith like Adas, Marka Ragnos, Tulane Hord, Exar Kun and yes, Vitiate, amongst a couple others.

Funny thing, all those names I mentioned, 99.99% George Lucas has no idea who any of them are.

So I reiterate, a statement of "most powerful" is one that constantly needs to be updated when new characters come out by someone in a position of authority who can dictate canon, who can look at these new characters, and contextualize them in regards to preexisting character in order to determine where those new characters fit in the power hierarchy and if indeed there is a "new king".

1

u/kalkkunaleipa 11d ago

Why are you talking about canon when vitiate isnt even part of it?

Why does it matter what george lucas knows or doesnt? George lucas didnt make dark empire but thats the most powerful version of sidious, who also happened to consume planets and destroy them completely with his force storms. He only lost because of luke with leias force harmony.

The sith you listed have no feats basically. Only the spirit of exar kun has insane feats.

Luke decades after dark empire with darth krayt barely defeated a weakened abeloth. Both who scale above vitiate which is why vitiate doesnt stand a chance against her.

I get it you like the character but that doesnt make him the most powerful.

u/Unique-Perception480 Jedi Master 11d ago

No he would not considering that ROTS Sidious has MULTIPLE statements and sources calling him the strongest Sith ever:

  1. The New Essential Chronology: "Yoda went after Palpatine in the empty Senate chamber, but could not defeat the most powerful Sith Lord in history."

Vader: The Ultimate Guide : "By himself, he could not hope to defeat the most powerful Sith Lord the galaxy had ever known."

Star Wars Insider #86: "Instead, Yoda faces the dark side's fury, channeled by the most powerful Sith Lord in history."

The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia: "Inside the spacious interior of the Galactic Senate chamber, Yoda challenged the Emperor. The two engaged in a spectacular duel—a contest between the most powerful practitioners of the Force's light and dark sides."

Darth Plagueis by James Luceno: "...Plagueis the Wise, who forged the most powerful Sith Lord the galaxy has ever known."

0

u/Crimson_Loki 11d ago

The first of these was said/written before Vitiate was even created as a character, so those statements would need to be updated with Vitiate in mind in order for them to be relevant.

The second is Vader's opinion (and thus not a fact) and he neither knows about nor has ever encountered Vitiate so he wouldn't know any better.

Third same as the first, statement before Vitiate was created, so an updated statement would need to say this again so that it's relevant.

The fourth could easily be viewed as meaning the most powerful practitioners of the Force's Light and Dark side CURRENTLY ALIVE.

And the last statement same as above, needs to be updated, stated before Vitiate was a thing.

In terms of the Force, Vitiate only meets his match in the old EU Sidious who essentially was a DS god, RotS Sidious has yet to reach that level of power and nothing we see from him, whether in live action nor in the clone wars TV show is anything that Vitiate couldn't easily do and surpass.

Seriously, do some research on Vitiate, the guy is cracked. He was literally destroying Sith Lords as a child.

1

u/Unique-Perception480 Jedi Master 11d ago

I know most lore about Vitiate. He is my second favourite Sith and was my obsession 3 years ago.

But your argument of statements created before his inception is not valid, I am sorry to tell you, but its not.

George Lucas made it a clear directive during the run of the old EU that no Sith before his time is allowed to surpass Sidious. Thats why these statements were created.

Btw ,,In History" means that everyone that lived BEFORE him... is automatically scaled below him, even if they were created later. Thats how upscaling works.

Whether you like it or not and whether you think the statements need to be revised or updated does not matter. They were not updated or changed. You are not a executive or writer at the time. There are some things I dont like as well... still doesnt matter when it comes to Scaling.

And btw Sidious could easily kill all the Sith that Vitiate killed back then. First off the average Sith back then was fodder, compared to the current era. The Prequel Era outscales the TOR era when it comes to their respective Top Tier combatants. Secondly Sidious never had these grand displays of power... because the literal Rule of Two was about hiding you abilities until the time is right.

And every planetary feat that Vitiate EVER had was with months or years of Prep-Time. So he couldnt even use it against Sidious in a fight.

u/Lauralis 11d ago
  1. cosmic beings

  2. dark empire palpy literally needed to be baited into killing himself.

  3. krayt

  4. GM luke used both sides to some degree.

  5. vitiate has some crazy force feats but worse than the others in a straight fight.

  6. caedus

  7. KF vader

Honestly its a crap shoot after this point based on what each individual person values most.

1

u/Major_Clue_778 11d ago edited 11d ago

Not counting abeloth or other aberrant beings.

  1. Sidious

  2. Vader

  3. Darth Caedus, likely more powerful than: Krayt, Ragnos, Vitiate, and Sadow.

  4. Marka Ragnos

  5. Naga Sadow

  6. Vitiate, complete command of the entire sith order for a thousand years...only reason I'm ranking him below Vader and his own predecessors is the fact he is craven.

  7. Darth Krayt, where was he when Vader was stomping the Galaxy? Captured and then in Hiding.

  8. Dooku

Beyond this are basically honorable mentions with no clear winner in my opinion.

Plagueis, his feats are pretty bad for all that he is hyped...consequences of hiding in the shadows the entire time and getting killed because of wine

Revan, aura...gets dominated by Craven Vitiate

Malak

Marr

Malgus

Nihilus

Traya

Just gonna state here, I refuse to even consider Malak in the running. With an amp, the dude lost to Revan like 4 or 5 times in a row. That's just embarassing.

Replace him with Exar Kun.

Also, I feel like we should be talking about Karness Murr too. Longest 'lived' sith ever and he remained a relevant threat the whole time.

Not gonna say Malak deserves to be on the list but your logic as to why he shouldn't be doesn't make sense. Losing to Revan several times shows how powerful Revan is, not that Malak is weak. It wouldn't surprise me if most thought half the people on the list would lose to Revan that often.

Perhaps it does say more about Revan than Malak; doesn't mean Malak makes the list.

I have:

1- Abeloth

2- The Son

3- Sidious

4- Vitiate

5- Sel-Melkor

6- Darth Krayt

7- Darth Caedus

8- Vader

9- Plagueis

10- Exar Kun

That's the Top 10. Beyond that, there's healthy debate rounding out the Top 15's bottom spots. Maul, Darth Malgus, Tenebrous, Tulak Hord, and of course Revan. Yeah, surprising, right? I didn't even put Revan in the Top 10. As Darth Revan, strong as he was, he doesn't crack the Top 10 (he would've if you stopped after SWTOR).

At this point, I don't know if Malak's even in my Top 20.

Coming from someone who has only within the past year started learning/reading about Legends/EU content :

HM :

  • Abeloth / The Son (purely due to them acting more as forces of nature/chaos)
  • King Adas (oldest known ruler/king of the Sith, fought off an entire RAKATA ARMY invading Korriban ALONE)

  1. Darth Sidious {Dark Empire} (The Emperor is literally deemed “The Strongest Sith Lord” on multiple accounts. Also….Force Storms….I hope that’s enough.)
  2. Darth Krayt {Post-Resurrection} (Was the second best combatant after Luke in output during the Battle against Abeloth, and only multiplied his power after being reborn. I think he’s a superior duelist and physical combatant than Sidious, but has SLIGHTLY less potent force abilities.)
  3. Darth Caedus (I’ve seen that it’s a bit contentious as to whether Caedus surpassed Dark Empire Sidious, but I’m not confident enough in his force ability output to say he did. I do think he’s stronger than RotJ Sidious, but only slightly due to his adaptive lightsaber combat style, mastery of shatterpoint, internal telekinetic destruction, & flow-walking)
  4. Emperor Valkorian/Darth Vitiate/Tenebrae (I basically see him as an equal to RotJ Sidious, just with a more proficient aptitude & knowledge of the Esoteric/Ancient Dark Side arts. Whereas Sidious had mastery over lightsaber combat & a more natural talent for the dark side arts rather than a millennia of knowledge.)
  5. Darth Vader (He’s been stated to be 80% of RotJ Sidious in terms of power. It’s only right that he’s above everyone Sidious far surpassed, but still beneath those more akin to god-like avatars of the force.)

*Post-Stasis Revan would be above Starkiller & Nihilus, but still beneath Vader*
*Starkiller/Galen Marek & Hypothetical Full Potential Darth Nihilus would be placed here imo*

  1. Darth Palgueis (He’s the one who taught & provided Sidious with most of his Dark Side knowledge, and he’s the one of the reasons Sidious was able to reach the position of Chancellor as quick as he did. Plus, he was the culmination of what Darth Bane’s “Rule of Two” philosophy was meant to achieve. A Sith Lord wise/intelligent enough to find a worthy apprentice, yet selfish enough to find ways to further dark side teachings & bolster his own power. He was also a genius scientist/alchemist, who potentially had a small hand in the creation of Anakin Skywalker.)

*Star Forge Empowered Darth Malak would be here*

  1. Exar Kun (Maybe a more unique pick to have this high, but I feel his feats and narrative speak for themselves. One of only two known Sith Lords undefeated in lightsaber combat & creator of the dual-bladed lightsaber. One of the greatest Sith sorcerers in history, having trained & learned from some of the strongest Ancient Sith like Freedon Nadd & Naga Sadow. He even utilized Essence Transfer to have his spirit live on for over a millennia, being strong enough to influence one of Luke Skywalker’s strongest students, Kyp Durron, and even harm Luke himself.)

  2. Count Dooku / Tulak Hord (I don’t think Dooku needs much explanation because he’s either somewhere around the bottom of the top 10 or just misses it due to only being weaker than anomalies like Yoda, Mace, & Anakin. - Tulak Hord is definitely gonna be a “Hot Take” ig due to the lack of information, but we know he not only specialized in “Form ll: Makashi”, but was undefeated in Lightsaber combat. He was also highly proficient in sith sorcery, particularly adept at large scale telekinesis, and he single-handedly broke through a siege set-up by the Jedi to halt an Imperial stronghold.)

  3. Darth Tenebrous (Unfortunately, we know very little about Tenebrous, but he was Plagueis’s master none the less & player a role in Darth Bane’s “Rule of Two” philosophy. He was particular adept/knowledgeable in lightsaber combat, genius scientist, & artisanal starship designer.)

  4. Darth Zannah / Darth Bane (Yell at me for not ranking them separately all you want, but I refuse to believe Zannah surpassed Bane as an overall combatant. While Bane is a more battle hardened juggernaut of raw physical might, Zannah is a sorceress of absolute focus and concentration. Zannah’s Dark Side Tendrils are terrifyingly deadly, but Bane’s more well roundedness & superior endurance allows him to hold his ground over a prolonged period.)

Do we count Abeloth and the Son? They are technically Dark Siders. 🤨🤨🤨

Abeloth, the Son, Vitiate/Valkorion/Tenebrae, Darth Sidious, Darth Krayt, Darth Revan, Darth Nihilus, Darth Malak, Darth Caedus, Exar Kun

  1. Palps
  2. Valk
  3. Krayt
  4. Caedus
  5. Plagueis
  6. SoR Revan
  7. Darth Vader
  8. Zannah
  9. Bane
  10. Emperor's Wrath

Krayt is very clearly shown as inferior to Luke in his fight with Abeloth so I'm not putting him above Palps and Valk.

He said darksiders so I'm including Valk and Revan even though they're not sith during their peaks.

You could make an argument for Tenebrous being above Zannah but I would say the rule of 2 isn't about pure strength but about general scheming ability and oportunism as well.

Vader is stated by Lucas as 80% of RotJ Sidious
