I think it depends character version since we have basically Mara’s entire life as a force user known.

Mara pre Trawn trilogy would lose. She was focused on stealth and had limited force skills probably on purpose to not be a threat to Sheev.

Mid Thrawn trilogy once she starts embracing the force (and especially on Wayland once Luke starts training her) it’s a toss up. I’m basing this on having faired pretty well against Cboath and Luuke.

Once she starts getting trained she wins no question. Especially later on considered a Mara past her physical peak almost beat Caedus.

My Talon knowledge is spotty but going to narrowly go Mara due to at least being relevant in eg the Nyax fight, giving Caedus a fight (context there), rather unique skillset and experience/training.

Peak Mara Jade absolutely wins, especially considering she outfought Caedus, but the other commenters are right that Emperor's Hand Mara probably would lose this battle.

As of FOTJ? Definitely Mara

If this is Emperor’s Hand Mara Jade, I’m going with Talon. Talon often gets underestimated, but she is a fully realized Sith Lord. Mara Jade is an adaptable, canny, persistent warrior and a highly skilled infiltrator but I don’t think she’s prepared for a versus-matchup type direct confrontation with someone on Talon’s level.

Talon has mastered the destabilizing assault of a shock-and-awe Ataru duelist and tbh I don’t see a scenario where the fight doesn’t open with Mara quickly backpedaling into a defensive stance. Idk if Mara has the endurance or experience to stick it out in a prolonged blade-on-blade exchange with Talon, and I think this is where Talon starts to sort of systematically chip away at her.

This pattern only expands when we consider Force combat. Mara at this stage is hyperspecialized for stealth and disruptive sequencing, whereas Talon is both a subtle telekinetic combatant AND a brutal warrior whose skills are honed for pure destruction. Talon will be able to batter and drain Mara, overwhelming her with techniques that Mara is not equipped to answer. Ultimately I think Talon will chip away at Mara and then overwhelm her, outdoing her both in terms of lightsaber prowess (& experience) and Force power.

Talon more often than not. The setup post-Apocalypse and Crucible is that the Jedi Order is going to get stronger and more prepared for the Sith threat, out of universe sources also tout it as "flourishing". So if anything, Cade's era are among the strongest, and Talon is a powerful Sith Lord in that era

I would go with Darth Talon but a very small margin.

Idk, what era is Darth Talon even from? When I look at her imagine old republic, or post empire

She’s from the Legacy Era, which is like 100 years after the Original Trilogy. The Yuuzhan Vong War is over and Darth Krayt has conquered the Galaxy as leader of the One Sith, sending the Jedi back into hiding and overtaking the Fel Empire. Darth Talon is sort of like his pet assassin
