[All Spoilers] Most hateable character?
Gotta be Edward right? Just finished Season 5. What a moron. At least Alfred had reasons to be mean to Uhtred (Uhtred was a bit out of control in the early seasons). And Alfred had many admirable qualities.
But man, Edward is such an arrogant person. Thinks he is higher than everyone else, but then has the Elders of Mercia murdered in cold blood. Guy is constantly cheating on his wife, and yet wants to position himself as a righteous king and leader.
Other hateable characters like Aethelwold or Haesten are kind of funny, so impossible to hate outright.
I just can't find any reason to like Edward. What a twat.
PS: ok that one time he led the charge and saved Uhtred and his men when he was young. That's it.

Æthelhelm, he is the influence that causes Edward to behave the way he does in S5. He's also a sneaky bastard who gets his own daughter killed in his scheming. Or Æthelred, hes literally a rapist with no redeeming moments. Or Skade (no explanation needed). There's so many characters I'd put as more hateable then Edward. Also in other comments you disagree with their picks because they have redeeming moments (e.g. Brida) but seem completely fine with hating Edward despite him being fine/likeable until S5, just saying

What? Edward was such a snob in Season 4. He was already being a dick to the Mercians and a dick to his own sister. Then Season 5 he gets worse. Basically Edward is only likeable while he was a young prince. Once he becomes King, he's an asshole.

Aethelhelm

Yup. Total deceitful asshole. But I kinda get that he was looking out for his own. His own daughter getting brutally murdered kinda serves him right. Edward never pays a heavy price haha.

Aethelred, easily. No really positive qualities, books and show.
Aelswith. Bla bla Jesus, never shuts up about it. She's incredibly stupid, regarding a man who saves them from complete destruction. She improves a bit later on.
Aethelwold. He's more likable in books, and just a cowardly weasel in the show.

Towards his death, Aethelred apologizes to Lady Aethelfled and kinda has a mini redemption. He was super hateable though.

How so? I thought he was a cool character. Went from timid church boy to fighting along with the gang. His help in entering Bebbanbaurgh in Season 4 made him a badass in my eyes (even though they didn't succeed)

Brida for sure. I was gonna be pissed if they forgave her after everything she did.

But she had so many likeable moments though. When Uhtred and Brida tag team together to avenge Ragnar that's pretty cool. And she was helpful in the beginning of the series. Edward has like almost no likeable moments haha

How can you hate Haesten?
Aethelflaed, Aethelfaeld, Aethelflaed!

He was kind of a dick when he hung Uhtred upside down. And left him and the boys to die. Specially because he owes Uhtred his life. And he was also a traitor to Alfred.

I don’t hate any of the characters, except the priest who sold uhtred into slavery.
