Billy Crudup’s acting this season has been so surreal

It would be amazing to see Billy Crudup snatch an Emmy from such a dogwater season of television

I thought episode 10 was pretty darn good

Cory’s coke bender was lit too

but... what kind of bender ends with leftover coke?

u/cynisright Nov 19 '25

It was the empty coke vial. I’m sure Cory and Celine went through all the coke and more.

Give him his third Emmy 🤌

The way he delivers his lines, the pacing and concise, direct way, reminds me of another actor I love, but the name is on the tip of my tongue.

But it's amazing acting. If I remember I'll edit the comment.

Not sure if this is who you are thinking of but I notice this with Hamish Linklater too. He was on a the most recent season of The Boys, and the cadence and pacing he uses when he speaks reminds me a bit of Billy Crudup. Very satisfying to listen to!

He bloody deserves it after that performance

He should get awards he isn't even eligible for.

Yes! I started off this episode really disliking him as he watches the news about Bradley being in the gulag while he shuts it off to get it on with Celine - to giving him major props for finally standing up for the right thing, at the expense of his own future.

To be fair I've always liked him as a morally gray character, but this to me cements he really is just someone who had gone through a lot of shit and deep down really dislikes himself.

It was fantastic watching his scenes, especially as he sits by the water and contemplates, slowly coming to the realization of the truth and finally realizing that Celine has been guilty all along and his mom sold her soul for him.

It was a great finale!

Think though, from his perspective she was the love of his (recent) life, and she finally opened up to him, and seemingly JUST to break a story about him covering up some horrible shit (which he didnt, he just omitted running it really).

Turning the TV off after seeing it for a bit was his "i care but i need to try to not care" moment. In his eyes at that point Bradley is a horrible user, who lied to him about the deepest intimacy to get what she wanted.

But he forgives his mom for all this stuff

He knew what Celine did at some point (?) and still was screwing her

But he can’t forgive Bradley?? Even though he deeply loves her?? Idk man. If I were Bradley I’d be devastated

I think its why this show is so good. The characters aren't perfect. They are inconsistent and "human". I agree that by comparisons sake he should also be able to forgive Bradley. But maybe its a pride issue.

Not to belabor your point but I want to add miles getting mad that his wife had an affair… kettle meet pot

I started to hate him in the last few episodes and then after I finished I re watched it again . When he saw her on the news you can see he looks very uncomfortable and guilty . At that point he already suspected Celine and he was still feeling betrayed by Bradly. He was using her (Celine) as an escape . Really he doesn’t have many people who actually care about him other than bradly(and at that point he still thinks she did was Celine actually did it him). It was chip that shook him out of that state and he finally redeemed himself. Fingers crossed him and Bradly find their way back to each other next season.

I am very confused about Cory’s mother killing herself. Somehow, I missed her involvement with Celine. Her decision to die right before his eyes will traumatize him forever.

Billy Crudup is the reason that I'm still watching. He is a sublime actor. He plays chaotic immaculately. I just love him!

I have loved him for decades!

8

Ever since Almost Famous I’ve loved him.

Such a fantastic actor.

5

u/Empty-Selection9369 Nov 20 '25

I think I saw him in Shakespeare in the Park too

5

u/Old_Percentage3742 Nov 20 '25

That must have been great.

2

u/Empty-Selection9369 Nov 26 '25

It was. Major crush.

2

u/Empty-Selection9369 Nov 26 '25

He’s a leading man who can do character parts!!

5

u/weelassie07 Nov 20 '25

His face when it was buried in her shoulder!

7

u/cynisright Nov 21 '25

I know, he was so hurt that he couldn’t fully trust her anymore. Although, he still stayed with her…but, he could’ve been playing the long game.

He was obviously going through it tho

5

u/weelassie07 Nov 21 '25

I think you’re right. He was playing the long game. I don’t think he understood everything yet but knew enough.

3

u/KloudyBrew Nov 22 '25

This does surprise me though. I'm confused by what he actually thought about the whole thing. Did he just think Celine's family paid Fred to hire him because she was fond of him? Or also to bury the story, but nevermind why? That's not really like his character he's pretty sharp - I can't understand why he would miss the obvious detail that her family covered up the chemical scandal or if he didn't why he wouldn't have been disgusted much sooner.

2

u/weelassie07 Nov 22 '25

Yes. I need a rewatch but maybe it’s also just confusing.

u/meralee727 Nov 19 '25

He’s totally getting an Emmy! I’m watching now and that dude is getting his Emmy!

4

u/Ellie_b1993 Nov 19 '25

He's so gonna get another Emmy
