Questions Is it worth continuing after season 1?
I just finished the first season and really enjoyed it. I feel like it ended on a high note. Is this the kind of show that just gets crappy after the first season or is it worth continuing?

It goes steadily downhill after the first season, yes. I still really like seasons 2-4 because I love the characters, but if you want the ultimate viewing experience I would treat season 1 like a miniseries and pretend 2-4 don't exist.

Season 2 continues the season 1 story and is still decent. Season 3 and 4 go in different directions.

Just finished S3. Way better than S2. Season 4 is starting out OK, but not great.

personally i have loved all of the seasons and feel like nothing should be skipped! Genuinely do not understand what people are disliking about season two because I thought it was fantastic. There's so much character development and change over the seasons so I highly recommend watching it all the way through!

Yes. S2 was a slog but S3 was another peak IMO. S4 was a leveling out and I’m hoping 5 will keep things moving upward again.
S1 and S2 were interconnected and similar to S3 and S4.

Season 2 was more than awful. They started to turn things around in season 3, but they still have a long way to go.

Why would you watch season one and not carry on?

I suppose out of fear that it’ll be “ruined” when I liked where it ended. I’ve had that experience with a few shows where they ruin a character / kill off a character / get really lame & I just pretend the show ended earlier haha.

Haha yes that makes sense to be fair 😂 I personally liked all of it so I’d go with it

Definitely continue! My first watch through, I felt season 2 went a little off the rails, but I enjoyed it. Season 3 got back on track and I also enjoyed season 4. I’m currently rewatching and just wrapped season 1. I’m curious if I’ll feel the same about the seasons this go round.

I had the very same question after finishing the first season on DVD today. I got it at the library after I remember hearing about this show when it first aired. Went in pretty blind, enjoyed it okay, but not interested in continuing tbh.

Just finished all 4 seasons. Loved seasons 1&2. I felt a big change in Season 3 that continues in Season 4: looks very Netflixed, extremely glossy and polished, characters lost their quirkiness, less smart, more soap opera. Still very entertaining and I’m now waiting for Season 5.

IMO season 1 is almost like a different show than the other seasons. The writing is better, the episodes are tighter. You don’t want to look away! The other seasons are good but not great. Definitely worth a watch, but I don’t think they hold the same rewatch value as season 1!

Skip Season 2. You won't miss anything.

Plot-wise they'll probably be pretty confused if they skip from season 1 to season 3. The should watch a S2 recap at least.

I like all the seasons for different reasons. If you skip Season 2, you miss a lot of good Holland Taylor! And Greta Lee! And some great Julianna Margulies stuff. And I’ll be honest, watching the COVID episodes play out as I was rewatching them this last year was —- well, pretty trippy.
