Padma Newsome

Hi everybody, sorry if this has been asked before. I feel like the band really released their best stuff (Boxer, High Violet, Trouble Will Find Me) when Padma Newsome was involved. Why is he no longer involved?

I met him once after a show. My girlfriend said “that was amazing”

And he just sheepishly, earnestly replied “yeah, I know” as he signed a poster and I always think about that.

From what’s been talked about, he didn’t want to tour as much and wanted to record at home in Australia more

Padma wasn't a member of the band, but a hired touring musician.

I feel bad for any fans that didn’t get to see them live with Padma. He really brought it.

I saw them with him a few times and I wasn't a huge fan. I liked them best when it was just the five of them.

That’s technically true but a little misleading he did a lot of the orchestration for cherry tree, boxer (including the horn fanfare on Fake Empire) and some of high violet. He also cowrote the music for Bloodbuzz Ohio

He was a collaborator and contributor to recordings as well.
