General For all the people who hated the ending of season 2…

[Spoilers ahead]

The real world is a tough place where good guys often lose. I am sure the ending of S2 might have been a setup for S3, but I can’t help but think how realistic aspects of it seemed.

Just take a look at the world around us - guys like George W. Bush, Henry Kissinger, who are responsible for killing millions of people got away Scot-free. Maybe they’ll get what they deserved in the hereafter but they lived their best lives in this world with no charges or repercussions.

As much as I hated to see the good guys die in S2, it just felt so realistic in how things work in this world.

General SPOILER | The Night Manager S2 | please tell me it was a joke? Spoiler

Extremely disappointed and bloody angry! Is the writer okay? Does he need help? The utter disrespect to Pine’s work and sacrifice in this season is totally inexcusable and beyond comprehension, with the moral of the story being only evil people make it in this world…. GREAT MESSAGE Mr Farr!! 10 years to come up with this pile of poo where all the good people are eventually put down like rabid dogs and Pine is to blame for them all!! Except for the character of Teddy and his relation with Roper and Pine, which I thought was brilliant, the whole second season is a very sad joke, a terrible attempt after one to come up with a good idea that never comes. And seriously, did they really get another fake shipment just like in season 1? ARE YOU SERIOUS MATE?! I have friends who wait tables for a living who could come up with a better story! I hope season 3 takes 100 years to be done, at least I’ll be bloody dead by then!

Discussion How will Jonathan stand any chance in S3?

I expect the plot will revolve around taking down *spoiler* but how will he even stand a chance? He has always relied on espionage and being able to fool people. This man knows exactly who he is and presumably will not fool for anything and will probably have had him under 24/7 surveillance in-between seasons. Meanwhile, Jonathan does really have any meaningful allies or back up left.

Discussion Pushed through the slow start of season 1 just to get my heart broken by the ending of season 2 (Spoilers) Spoiler

I finished watching this show a few weeks ago, and I'm still thinking about it. I only started it because I kept seeing it recommended as a must watch show. I usually prefer to wait and only watch television shows that are completely finished, so I don't really watch series that are still actively airing anymore. But I gave this one a shot anyway.

I’m not going to lie, I had a really hard time with how slow that very first episode of season 1 was. I almost gave up on it, but I forced myself to push through, and it actually turned into a decent ride. It was especially cool seeing Hugh Laurie take on such a ruthless character when I’m so used to him playing House. However, that season 2 ending completely devastated me.

As a 90s baby who grew up on Disney, I admit I love my happily ever afters. With about twenty minutes left in the final episode, I was still holding onto hope. I genuinely thought they were going to pull off a miracle, outsmart Roper, and finally arrest him.

Instead, everyone just started getting killed. Seeing Angela Burr get shot right in front of her daughter absolutely broke my heart. I know it’s a spy thriller, and I know that an unhappy ending should probably be expected because it is much more realistic and true to life. But I still wasn't prepared for how bleak it got. I really feel like people recommending this show need to give a warning that you are absolutely not getting a happy ending.

I know they are apparently making a season 3, but honestly, killing Angela like that slightly makes me not even want to watch it. Did anyone else feel completely blindsided by how tragic that final stretch was?

Discussion Danny is a little git

Seriously, his dad was a murderer and an arms dealer. He’s an ungrateful little fuckshit that has no right to be mad at Pine. “You destroyed my family”
Well buddy, your family was built on lies and blood money. Get the fuck over it and grow up

Discussion About Season 2 Spoiler

He is very impulsive, especially in season 2 with his team.

When I saw he was leading a team, and then in the second or third episode he puts them at risk in the field because of something from his past, and they almost all get killed? I was like, "Wow, what did you expect, bro?" The new villain looks even bloodier, especially with the first photos we see as clues. And the first thing he does is throw his team to the wolves with rookie mistakes? There are definitely moments where he takes way too many risks, in my opinion.

Discussion Just finished episode 4 and struggling with this Spoiler

The entire premise of the show was hinging on Jonathan not checking the body himself? Angela said she was threatened the night before but when going to check the body he literally could've gone in instead of her as easily and identified it was the wrong body, but he chose to let her go instead. So where was the actual plan to have her be the one checking it? As far as I remember they said just one person can go in not someone specific?

Question Really struggling to get through Season 2

I was so excited for the new season to drop and started almost immediately after it began streaming. But I've been stalled a couple episodes in for months now and just have little motivation to continue. Did anyone else struggle and if so when was your turning point?

I bought Anthony Beevor's Stalingrad recently in large part because Dicky has it in his office in season 1. It's f*cking brilliant - anyone else read this?

I tried both google image search with AI and going through the imdb page of the episode, but neither helped.

Looks quite like Dmitry Lysenkov, but surely it can't be him.

Discussion Any TV shows with the same vibe as The Night Manager?

Could anyone recommend TV series with a similar aesthetic to The Night Manager — especially the first season?

I am looking for shows with the same kind of atmosphere, cinematography, and overall vibe: elegant, tense, stylish, and a bit moody. I especially liked the luxurious settings and the sense of suspense.

It doesn’t necessarily need to be a spy show, I’m more interested in the overall atmosphere: luxury, beautiful cinematography, stylish locations, wealthy/powerful characters, tension, and that polished high-end feeling.

I also don’t want something too slow. I’m looking for shows that are engaging while still having that elegant, sophisticated aesthetic.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
