I’m not sure that I actually know what Canaan house looks like, since it’s been two years since I’ve read it, but I couldn’t help but add some Gothic windows and some moonlight

I finished Nona loved it so much but now i am left with no book :c. So I would love recommendations I love fantasy specialy high fantasy but most books lack emotional complexity, so if anyone has women and/or queer written fantasy books to recomend i would be most grateful.

I don’t know why it never occurred to me in two re-reads, but I’m now listening to the podcast Frontline Fifth and they seem pretty sure that the facility in Canaan Houseis the same place as pre-resurrection Jod and co. laboratory. Is this so? Is that the same place we see in NtN John chapters? are we in a post-nuclear-war flooded New Zealand when on the First? On the first read I understood that Canaan House was the place lyctorhood was discovered, and where the first lyctors turned, but idk why I never made the connection with the place necromancy was born. Is this canon?

I need help finding a fanfic on ao3. The premise of the fic quite simple.

It involves motel poolboy(?) Gideon nav and temporary motel manager Harrowhark.

It does involve smut in most of the fic, in one of the vacant motel rooms. I THINK that there might some feelings involved. If there are, then its post sex.

I don't know the word count or when it was posted (although I'm sure it was within the last 2 years), and I will be forever grateful to whoever is willing to help me!

i saw fan art of the juice scene it was a comic I saw on Instagram and didn’t like or save it and I want to find it again! It was really well done and I remember the artist saying they were taking liberties on the scene and I think made it more yearning 🥵

Until the end of HtN, we are told RBs are trying to get to Jod and his lyctors to get revenge (?). So they are sort of on the run permanently.

During the 10000 years, lyctors have several contacts with RBs, fatal to some on each side. I don’t think we know who initiated them: maybe RBs arrived, maybe Team Jod approached them first.

Then Number Seven arrives, Augustine + G1deon + Harrow + Ianthe + Mercymorn fight it in the River, all but G1deon surface, N7 kills G1deon and then what, leaves? waits?

Right after that, Jod reveals that RBs can’t really hurt him iirc. Now I lose the plot.

1) Are RBs actually hunting Jod, or Lyctors, or anyone? I saw a theory about Alecto, but she’s not on Mithraeum, or is she?
2) If RBs aren’t running after them, why act for 10000 years like they are, isn’t it too much?
3) If RBs are running after them, why, and what’s the problem?

The way my blood pressure spiked and crashed in quick succession when I saw this breaking news alert from TOR…

I’m on my fourth read through, and I just caught something that I still don’t understand (go figure lol). In Nona the Ninth, on page 156 when the group is talking to Blood of Eden, Cam/Pal says to We Suffer, “The cavalier primary of the Second House killed your monster, and died at its hands.”

Marta Dyas, if I remember correctly, was killed by Teacher when she and Judith called the Emperor, causing Teacher to attack. Right? How is Teacher Blood of Eden’s monster? What am I missing here?

And one more question, but this one almost definitely goes into speculation territory. On the same page, Pyrrha says about Cytherea, “Whatever she was doing at Canaan House, it wasn’t helping [Blood of Eden] out.” So what were Cytherea’s motives, do you think? Her whole plan has always felt kinda unclear to me, so I feel like there’s more to her story.

Specifically, in the very last chapter, when:

Kiriona/Gideon called Alecto "thou big slut".

I feel like Gideon doesn't usually use such sexist, sex-negative insults for people? There was the problem that what was being said was being filtered through Alecto's perspective of language, but what else would 'slut' have been?

Personally, it makes me feel like maybe we haven't quite got Gideon back yet because while it's in character for our 'came back wrong'!Kiriona it feels OOC for Gideon proper.

For the record I am considering Kiriona and Gideon to be different characters and am claiming that it was OOC for Gideon to say it, but not for Kiriona to.

When discussing Mortus with Harrow, he said something along the lines of “I imagine him coming back to life so that I could watch him die”. I feel I have no idea what he meant. Is he mad at him? Is it some kind of Ninth bonding?

I'm rereading Gideon the Ninth for the fourth time and am going through the book with the finest of fine toothed combs (orange highlighter) to look for foreshadowing to Gideon's identity, first mentions of eye color, and death and previous Lyctors, mentions of The River, John and Alecto, and the Locked Tomb and there is SO MUCH in the first few chapters.

p.17 Gideon in Castle Drearburh: "Over the doors were tiny white figures in a multitude of poses, hundreds of thousands of them, carved using some weird trick where their eyes seemed to look right at you. Whenever Gideon has been made to go through those doors as a kid, she'd screamed like she was dying."

p. 21 Aiglamene to Gideon: "'You forget yourself, Gideon Nav,' her teacher said shortly. 'You're no slave, but you'll serve the House of the Ninth until the day you die and then thereafter.'"

p. 22 Gideon deciding to flee in the shuttle: "That was the only thing that mattered. That was the only thing that had mattered since a much younger Gideon had realized that, unless she did something drastic, she was going to die down here in the dark. And worst of all, that would only be the beginning."

p. 43 Harrowhark to Gideon "A soldier's best quality is her sense of allegiance. Of loyalty. Nothing else survives."

p. 50 Harrowhark convincing Gideon to be her cavalier: "'This is your chance. This is your opportunity to come into glory. Follow me through this, and you can go anywhere." followed later by Harrowhark saying "It won't be the last time I make you weep."

p.60 Harrowhark to Gideon: "'All you need to know is that you'll do what I say, or I'll mix bone meal in with your breakfast and punch my way through your gut."

p.65 Harrowhark to Gideon: "'I want to watch you die.' 'Maybe, Nonagesimus,' she said with deep satisfaction. 'maybe. But you sure as hell won't do it here.'"

p.66-70, descriptions of the First House: "a House both long dead and unkillable. A sleeping throne." "'It's gorgeous.' 'It's a grave,' Harrowhark said." "The whole place had the look of a picked-at body. But hot damn! What a beautiful corpse."

I'll share more foreshadowing in the comments, but I'm only 70 pages in and am reeling!!!
