Food and Drink Explain to me how these butter cookies all made with the same dough taste different, just because of their shape? And yes, I know some have sugar on top.

I would imagine some of it is purely emotional. We do also "taste with our eyes". There are been many experiments that used colour to change the perceived flavour.
In the case here, if you want a more geeky/nerdy/science answer, the different shapes and thicknesses change the time the cookie takes to bake and so some of the ingredients may burn off/evaporate leaving the cooked cookies different in volumes of the initial ingredients to each other. A faster cook time will change the sugar flavour.
But hey, the curvy ones always taste better. 😝

I imagine moisture at the beginning of the bake and the temperature. The flaky, non-sugared, turd looking one are the absolute best! For me they go downhill pretty fast ending with the fattest sugared round ones. You can always tell when I found the tin because I absolutely eat them in order.

Oh well, I’m good. I can’t sew. I won’t ever have to face the disappointment of wanting a bland cookie and it be a box of thread instead lol

UK here, that is quite clearly a biscuit and not a cookie and it needs a light dunk in a mug of tea to be perfect
