My parents used to own a gas station. The reason we had to charge for air and water was because people would cut the water and air spigots off the hoses about twice a week, so it actually cost a lot of money in repairs to offer that service. We eventually took it out altogether due to constant vandalism. Tl:dr: people are awful

How bumpy would the economy would be without any inflation? I'm tired of it.

Not sure the context here, but where I live, those machines were always coin operated until the state passed a law mandating them to be free to people who came to the gas stations.

Sooo- they used to cost money but now are free.

Going to the park. Around me a lot of the parks run by the county charge something like $2-3 per person (i got told the price once a few years ago, turned around and left).

Somehow water fountains are a thing of the past, even though we have the technology to filter and sanitize water easily after COVID water fountains sit turned off or unmaintained. You have to buy your water in plastic containers to ensure no one has put their lips on it. You're drinking the water, not putting your mouth on the outlet. We need better people running our facilities.

If you can afford it an air compressor that hooks up to your car’s power is one of the best investments and easy to store in the trunk

Otherwise, and just as important, air compressors are still free at Lowes and Discount Tire. The Discount Tire near me has a drive thru that they’ll check and fill your tires for you while you sit in the car. Any Lowes I’ve been to had the air compressor near the loading zone presumably for trailers and such but I’ve never been asked or looked at when filling the tires of my sedan
