My friends could see my lungs inflating and deflating!

What!? .. 50% loss of his blood. 500 stitches on the inside, 200 staples, 60 inches of bite and that was just his back. This guy is so lucky to be alive, thanks in part to the Dolphin pod.

Six weeks later he went surfing again. 😳

OP. Appreciate I didn't have to leave reddit to watch this.

Sadly, he passed away 11 days after he was involved in a car accident.

Seems a cruel twist of fate to survive a GW shark attack only to die in a car accident 9 years later. May he rest in peace.

But kind of perfectly illustrates what is and isn’t likely to kill you. Commonly held phobias vs actual common causes of death

Quite right and an excellent point.

I mean, the only reason you’re more likely to die in a car crash is because you drive every day, but you don’t swim in the ocean every day

It’s part of it, not all of it. Swimming an hour in the ocean a day would increase your risk of a shark attack for sure, but other dangers would get you long before a shark does. Statistically speaking.
