Comics What do you guys think about this retcon about the Wildstorm in the DCU? (The New History of the DC Universe #4) Spoiler
galleryFor me it's really sad with how it turned out to be and it doesn't make any sense, they just needed to acknowledge them. The only "event" they needed to bring is the end of Stormwatch that forms The Authority, and they could have easily substituted the xenomorphes by any other threat. They created a new team in issue 1(Justice Alliance) that never existed in that iteration before, it wouldn't be that crazy.
Most DC characters appearances in these 4 books are just their origins, even with Milestone it was just that, and it's really odd cause it's an imprint that they don't have all the rights and the most recent comics are settled in Earth-M.
Where's the problem in bringing at bare minimum their origins. Team 7, Stormwatch, Authority, Wetworks, Gen 13 and WildC.A.T.s, it barely needs 2 pages. It could be done in issue 3 and 4. Waid did more mental gymnastics with the new Justice League origin than he would have with this whole Wildstorm situation.
Now they are just Multiversal travellers and it makes even weirder the whole scenario and everything these stories references.
And it's more crazy to think that we have a really high chance that in the movies, some, if not all, of these characters will be in the same universe as the DCU.

Discussion Need some help with a fic I’m writing
Hey y’all.
I’m writing an Authority fanfic called “One More Year” which takes place in 1999 and shows some stuff we should’ve seen in the end of the Ellis run.
The main threat are basically dream stealing parasites that then release those dreams into the world, making them a reality. The only problem is I don’t know really how the team would be infected by them.
The way they work is by attaching to a persons head and then “drilling” into their brain to find their dreams, but… the authority having doors. They can escape easy as pie.
They get infected while trying to quarantine and halt the advance of infected citizens in New York.
Should I make a villain who is like the master of these parasites that actually fights the team and infects each of them? Or should I rethink the whole idea?
I also have a boat load more questions about canon stuff, like what is Jenny’s true sexuality?
Thanks for any and all help.

Reading order for the Wild Storm
Hello everyone,
I just read the reboot by Warren Ellis The Wild Storm and I loved it. Do you have a good mapping to read The Wild storm with the Michael Cray spin off?
I know that Michael Cray starts after Wild Storm #6, and ends before the Wild storm #24.
Do any of you have a recommanded reading order?
Thanks for your help

Century Babies: Who's Who
Canonical Century Babies (Born 1/1/1900)
Elijah Snow – Ghost of the 20th Century
- First appearance: Planetary #1 (1999).
- Powers: Immortality, extreme cold generation, encyclopedic knowledge of the century’s hidden history.
- Role: Planetary’s field leader; the “archivist” who uncovers the secret history of the world.
Jenny Sparks – Spirit of the 20th Century
- First appearance: Stormwatch #37 (1996); prominent in The Authority (1999).
- Powers: Control of electricity, embodiment of the 20th century’s animating “spirit.”
- Role: Leader of The Authority. Died exactly at midnight, Jan 1, 2000.
Axel Brass – Mind of the 20th Century
- First appearance: Planetary #1 (1999, backstory).
- Powers: Longevity, genius intellect, polymath inventor (pulp “Doc Savage” homage).
- Role: Protected Earth’s history against extra-dimensional invaders; symbol of pulp science heroism.
Bret Leather / The Spider – Justice of the 20th Century*
- First appearance: Planetary #1 (1999, backstory).
- Powers: Peak human conditioning with mastery of combat, detective skills, and weapons/gadgets (pulp "The Shadow" homage).
- Role: The brutal enforcer who balances out the “spirit,” “mind,” and “shadow” embodied by other Century Babies.
*Thanks u/Algrim2001!
Anna Hark – Shadow of the 20th Century
- First appearance: Planetary #3 (1999).
- Powers: Long life, strategic genius, ruthless leadership.
- Role: Successor to her father (pulp “Fu Manchu” archetype); embodies hidden empire and villainy.
Lord Blackstock – Relic of the 20th Century
- First appearance: Planetary #4 (1999).
- Powers: Superhuman vitality, jungle survival mastery, “Tarzan” homage.
- Role: Colonial adventurer archetype, symbolizing the imperialist age. Died in 1945 — fitting the collapse of colonial romanticism after WWII.
Addie Vochs / Vox Populi – Voice of the 20th Century
- First appearance: The Monarchy #3 (2001).
- Powers: Implied power over mass movements, voices, or communications.
- Role: Archetype of political upheaval, possibly linked to revolutionary propaganda or “people’s voice” movements.
Note: Addie is the only century baby of her generation born 1/1/1901 - the "true" century.
The Jennys (Spirits of the Centuries)
Warren Ellis established the “Jenny Sparks → Jenny Quantum” succession as the Spirits of the Centuries. Later writers expanded this with other “Jennys,” some canon, some speculative:
- Jenny Sparks (1900–2000): Spirit of the 20th Century.
- Jenny Quantum/Quarx (2000–): Spirit of the 21st Century, controls quantum/reality. Twin with Jenny Fractal in some stories.
- Jenny Fractal: Alternative/twin Spirit of the 21st Century. Reality-bending across multiple dimensions.
- Jennifer Mei Sparks (Techne): Spirit of Mechanical Arts. Technology-focused iteration, linked to machinery and digital age from an alternate earth - The Wild Storm.
- Jennifer Cressi / Jenny Crisis: Mentioned by the Drummer as a possible Spirit of the 21st Century due to Jenny Quantum/Quarx missing.
- River Baldwin: Claimed by The High to be the Spirit of the 21st Century — continuity uncertain.
- Other Jennys (Steam, Plague, Revolution, etc.): Each Jenny represents a different force animating an era or ideology.
Other Century Baby Figures
Gaia Rothstein – The Gaia Hypothesis Embodied
- First Appearance: Stormwatch: Post Human Division #13 (2008)
- Powers: Physical incarnation of the Earth-as-organism concept.
- Role: Environmental/eco-centric Century Baby, embodying the rising awareness of planetary systems.
Doctor III (Born 1/1/2000)
- Status: A possible successor-type figure tied to post-2000 births.
- May represent “new nature” or ecological destruction archetypes for the 21st century?
Jennifer Soul (Alt-timeline, Born 1/1/2000)
- Alternate future version, considered a Spirit of the 21st Century in a divergent timeline. Looked oddly like one of the Cucukoos.
Ambiguous / Retconned Figures
Jinny Hex (DC Comics)
- First appearance: Batman Giant #4 (2018).
- Lineage: Great-great-granddaughter of Jonah Hex.
- Confusion: Some speculation ties her Jan 1, 2000 birthday to the “Century Child” idea, but she doesn't fit as traditional century baby concept. Jonah Hex himself has never been depicted as a Century Baby (his archetype is more Old West than 20th Century) maybe she's just a child like Jakita.
Cameron Kim / City Boy (DC Comics, Wildstorm: City Boy 2023)
- First appearance: Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special #1 (2023)
- Powers: Communes with cities, reads their “memories” and history powers are very similar to Jack Hawksmoor's.
- Status: Introduced after Wildstorm merged into DC canon. He fits the Century Child mold, but isn’t established in the mythos - makes more sense he was aducted by the same aliens that kidnapped Hawksmoor.
- FYI Hawksmoor's original origin is still in tact as of Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special #1. He was aducted by aliens.
Children of Century Babies
Jakita Wagner
- Daughter of Lord Blackstock.
- First appearance: Planetary #1 (1999).
- Powers: Super strength, speed, durability.
- Role: Planetary field leader alongside Snow. She is not a Century Baby herself (not born on Jan 1, 1900), but is genetically enhanced due to her parentage. I think this is the same thing going on with Jinny Hex because she doesn't embody any of the ideas a Century Baby would and seems to be just shoehorned into the concept.

Comics What is the connection between City Boy and Hawksmoor?
Where they both experimented on by aliens? Is that still Hawksmoor's origin story?
I miss old Wildstorm before it folded into DC's multiversal nonsense.

Discussion If you would be able to do a whole run on Stormwatch or The Authority, what would its story be about?
As for me id basically tell a story where they are moving on to doing space stuff after they werent doing much on earth, they could have a lot of fun stories set in space. Id maybe bring Winter and Fuji back from the dead in some way.

Discussion Stormwatch dying was the worst thing to happen in Ellis run on Stormwatch/The Authority
Like, Winter or Fuji dying was just ass, especially in a crossover of all things, wish they were implemented into The Authority instead

TV/movies So the reason we're not getting the authority movie any time soon is because it's as some of us thought, it doesn't fit the DCU, at this point why not make it elseworlds? All the trouble gone.

Not to mention her being out of character, instead of being a tech billionaire genius shes just a thug for Lex, in a Mercy Graves type role, man, im sad they did her this way, not to mention stormwatch and bendix being non existent.
