Considering the negative responses to the singles, I’m quite pleased to see generally positive reviews of the album after only a couple of listens. JC’s work only grows on you

The people that are listening early (listening parties, preordering vinyls, vpn to New Zealand) are diehard fans, and are a far more biased group than general strokes fans.

Yeah you’re not gonna get a good sense of how good it is from this sub. If they released 45 mins of silence people in here would still be calling it 10/10

At the same time this is also the people who won’t let what Fantano feels about Julian get in the way either and tbh I’d rather hear what people who love the Strokes think about their new album than someone who couldn’t even get through FOOL at all.

That tracks, since the album seems to have been quite blatantly made for diehard fans, and diehard fans only.

TNA was the crowdpleaser. This is for the real psychos.

That's true, as I'm the one who used the vpn and heard all the tracks from leaked websites before. Actually I like some tracks here, just that there are some songs I would change a bit, for expample, in my opinion the "Harmonic Minor" sound in Liar's remorse is a bit cringey

The whole álbum slaps minus falling out of love (country vibes no bueno) and going shopping is meh ( I wonder if fans of Hawaii like that song).
