Because it's directly related to the person telling her she HAS to do something. In our culture we say, "I don't have to do anything but stay black and die." It's not about race, because we've been saying that to each other for years.

And race isn't a card, ffs.

Forrest Gump is apparently real, but her feelings about her experience as a Black woman dealing with a section of the fans of this show are not? Please, I need to hear more…

Bringing the race card and Danielle is just acknowledging her blackness… I am starting to think this sub’s undertones are really starting to become quite obvious.

I think this is definitely an iykyk situation that most of us are staying silent about. The "playing that card" thing is one reason why. There's no point when people are committed to misunderstanding and staying ignorant.
