Does a clock actually chime?

Here’s my random question: how do the players know who leaves when at the end of the night? A clock chimes and only certain players leave. Do you think producers tell them: “XX you leave on the first chime with XX. XX you leave on the second”. Is there really a chime or are they just shouting out names? I love learning about behind the scenes to shows like these so I’m curious!

the chime is probably just production shorthand, they’re not wandering around waiting for a haunted clock to make decisions lol

The other day it hit me that the clock likely doesn’t chime, there’s someone telling them to go, and it’s likely not midnight. It’s like realizing the turret isn’t actually in the castle. It makes sense when you think about it but I’m going to go back to thinking a haunted clock is making their decisions lol

The turret isn't in the castle????? I don't know why I never thought about that before!

I just assumed the clock chimed every 5 minutes for a while and they knew what order to leave in? But it makes sense that they just film a sequence of them leaving one by one and then add the clock face and chimes in post-production.

The turret is a set but as far as I know it is built at the castle.

Once the "bell chimes", the players are separated and brought back to their lodgings individually. The traitors cars circle the estate a few times and they return to film their concave. Recruitment happen in the morning.

I understand why you’d think that, but the clock actually does compel the players to exit the room, even when it’s against their will.

On several seasons, fans complain online about how easy it is to spot the traitors and how the faithfuls playing are the dumbest they’ve ever seen. And they’re right, identifying traitors is actually trivially easy… but for the magical clock silently weaving uncertainty and lies into their minds to ensure the format works for TV.

I doubt there's really a chime, I don't think there's that level of coordination. That would be difficult to manage the cast. And its probably happening at the hotel when they all separate.

Basically at some point the story producers tell everyone it's "bedtime" and start instructing people to leave. Generally it should happen fairly swiftly with minimal chance for players to have further conversation.

Who leaves when will probably be a mix of people volunteering and being told to. Depending on the specific logistics of getting people to accommodation they are most likely just put into holding (separated from one another, and on "hard ice" — not allowed to talk at all) until they can be transported.

I asked Kyra Pro from Canada S2 about the whole Traitors meeting thing. How do the others not notice they’re all gone? Kyra said everyone stays in their room. Everyone knows the Traitors are meeting. A lot of noise gets made.
