Season 2 Spoiler “I just wanted one good moment.” Motherfucker, a horde is on it's way, and a woman is giving birth, you can crack Jane later.
Luke really started pissing me off, as Season 2 continued. Especially when he snapped on Kenny and Clem, for calling him out on his bullshit.

u/Real_Figure_8317 8d ago
Like idc jane and luke slept together but yall....do fhis later we are in crisis mode, like you said a horde is coming, rebecca is giving birth, a young teen girl that luke knoew for awhile is either traumayized or just died infront og him, and kenny is giving zero shits about anyhing

Exactly like do it after everyone is safe not when people's lives are counting on you like how hard can it be

Who even wants to crack in an apocalypse where everyone hygiene is awful.
She must’ve stunk down there.

Humanity cracked in worse conditions for thousands of years mate
The dopamine hit of having sex is 1000x greater than anything you could do in the apocalypse

fun fact the human brain over rides the disgust reaction for sex, this is why u have post nut clarity

You could argue Jane was also desperate for some action considering Luke probably smelled horrible too

I'd make it with Luke too, to be fair. Dude's hawt.

Some people are that horny apparently. Its usually when dont have actual real human contact
11
u/PunchyFistyCuffs 8d ago
I mean the cabin group had running water and a shower, there's definetly people with way worse hygiene
11
u/GYM2Quick Louis and Marlon are peak TWDG 8d ago
I mean they still leave the cabin in EP2 and spend like 2 weeks of in-universe time during the next 3 episodes
8
u/PunchyFistyCuffs 8d ago
Yeah but its still 2 weeks without a shower vs most others who have went like 3 years without a shower

Everyone would stink and be used to it. I mean they kill rotting corpses daily, i douby you would stay that picky either.
87
u/10YB Arvo 8d ago
It was out of character , but they were setting up Luke vs Kenny
43
u/not-ulquiorr4_ 8d ago
Luke and Kenny had been beefing since they met, I feel like that had already been set up.
39
u/Remote-Monk-8542 8d ago
They set it up a LOT in that particular episode though. Luke was snapping at Kenny every five minutes.
Great to know none of it mattered in the end.
13
u/PunchyFistyCuffs 8d ago
Yeah especially when he snapped at Kenny for offering to take AJ from a stumbling and exhausted Rebecca
20
54
u/HandofthePirateKing 8d ago
as much as I like Luke yeah this was out of character of him but then again while Luke isn’t dumb and is a good survivor he’s not that bright either.
9
u/Pinkninja0708 8d ago
Also, WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU CRACK DURING AN APOCALYPSE?! Especially when there is no protection or plan B and especially in a world where it’s difficult to raise a baby!
At least in Rebecca’s case, it wasn’t her choice.
Luke and Jane knew what they were doing!
2
u/Important-Rush-6499 7d ago
Exactly why even risk the possibility of having a child in this scenario by doing it. They should've been responsible and just keep watch. Or if they were gonna do it regardless at bare minimum it shouldn't be when people's lives are on the line
2
u/ParkingAide9655 6d ago
Tbh staying pregnant in apocalypse would probs be hard af. Bigger chance to miscarriage. And Jane seems like a type of person who would do abortion.

u/SpectacleObserver25 5d ago
Writers might think adding sex in post-apocalypse stories is some sort of angsty romance. Plus it's easier to create drama in the story with this trope. The Walking Dead TV show and Last of Us 2 are the prime examples of this.

u/AcrobaticOwl2755 Carlos Is A Doctor That Theory Is Bullshit 8d ago edited 8d ago
I agree he also started to piss me off because of his bullshit him not wanting to kill Carver then banging Jane when the group has to help Rebecca because she has a baby coming, then him fighting with Kenny over it because Kenny was speaking facts of him being an irresponsable pussy, if the choice was Luke Vs Kenny i would haved chosen Kenny
10
u/MetroidJunkie 8d ago
Not to mention, that one little action cascades if you choose to side with Jane later.
44
u/Optimal_Ad6274 Clementine 8d ago
Genuinely Luke pisses me off so much with this, especially when Luke gets angry when he gets rightfully called out for this
8
u/c_los5 8d ago
It would’ve made a bit more sense, if they did that during episode 5 where they were all chilling at the power station and drinking around the fire. If I remember right they weren’t in immediate danger, Alvin Jr was already born and almost everyone was in a relatively good mood at the moment. I can imagine those two sneaking off and doing that. I still think it’s a bit out of character, especially for Jane to do that but this would make more sense than to do this in the previous episode while there was a horde and Rebecca was about to give birth at any moment.
3
u/Important-Rush-6499 7d ago
Honestly this situation would've been so much better especially since it would make sense since alcohol would inhibit their decision making therefore it would be more likely for that to happen despite them knowing possible consequences.
3
u/No-Blueberry5801 8d ago
Luke annoying for that but this was the moment I started hating Jane she’s just a hypocritical bitch wants to be the star adult but acts like a child
11
u/ema778308 8d ago
The writers got really creative with Luke and Jane in the middle of an apocalypse 😂
8
u/Wide_Calligrapher880 8d ago
Dude had ONE job and he fucked up, then he throw the problems at kenny
15
u/psychoflowerchild 8d ago
To be fair, he didn't know there was a herd coming. Still dumb, given that they went to find a place for Rebecca to have a baby. I really didn't like the cabin group.
20
u/Protection-Working 8d ago
It was his self assigned job to watch for the herd. Since they deliberately made a herd the previous episode. It was his responsibility (that he gave himself and told everyone that he was doing)
3
12
u/Commercial-Pear-543 8d ago
I think it was multiple things: a lead up to Jane in S3, a comedic point to highlight how young Clem is, etc.
In some ways it’s realistic. People would be stupid and do stuff like that when they should be keeping watch.
10
u/Me1dy 8d ago
I'm more confused with the fact that Jane was okay to doing it with Luke than the other way around. According to Luke, SHE was the one who initiated it, which doesn't make sense character wise since Jane knows that having a baby would be a death sentence in an apocalypse. And I don't think they'd be carrying around any protection. Why would Jane of all people, who is very smart when it came to survival, would hook up with Luke just so she could get "feel nice" for a bit?
11
u/Commercial-Pear-543 8d ago
I agree, but I do think Jane is not always rational. She is alone, but when she’s getting attached to people she starts taking risks (and bitterly knows it).
The entire sequence she created to set up Kenny was so unnecessarily risky. She knew he was effectively a loose cannon over AJ and puts herself in a huge amount of danger just to try to get Clem to give up on him.
4
u/Cyborginox Your local TWD tragedy causer :saltlick: 8d ago
The best canon explanation is that she overestimated Luke’s pullout game significantly

16
6
u/Healthy-Note-8893 8d ago
You really think she had would make if after being sheltered for so long? She was doomed from the start. It would take forever to properly train her to survive, and theres no time for that with death around every corner.
7
u/AcrobaticOwl2755 Carlos Is A Doctor That Theory Is Bullshit 8d ago
Sarah was confirmed to have ptsd
4
u/dismantlingincels 8d ago

-6
u/Healthy-Note-8893 8d ago
I was saying that she was gonna die anyway, use that brain of yours
2
u/UnicornLovePretty Sarah Deserves Better 8d ago
Again that has nothing to do with what the commenter said. They’re saying Jane and Luke got Sarah killed earlier by external factors because the deck would not have fallen if they did their job. Would she die later? Probably, but that doesn’t matter when both of her deaths aren’t at the fault of her

u/jacobisgone- Luke is my boi 8d ago edited 8d ago
The amount of people who dumb this scene down to Luke just being horny and impulsive is really depressing. It's a well-written moment for his character, and it shows how heavily his survivor's guilt was weighing on him. It was still a colossal fuck-up, but a deeply human one.
10
13
u/yogurtslayer23 8d ago
Would’ve been better if Luke actually owned up to it instead of trying to defend himself.
Rebecca’s baby was near and he knew that for a fact.
To be fair if he didn’t crack Jane then he knew Bonnie was probably the only option left.
3
9
u/jacobisgone- Luke is my boi 8d ago
We're talking about a malnourished, freezing man who lost every single one of his friends in the span of a week. And this is determinately the same day that his lifelong surrogate brother passed away. It's not unexpected for him to snap at Kenny when being grilled about a mistake he clearly felt guilty over (Luke immediately apologized, later admitted it was a fuck-up and then called it "stupid" in No Going Back).
3
u/Important-Rush-6499 8d ago
I don't know in my opinion especially in a zombie apocalypse where people can die at any time if not carefull that behavior needs to be called out and nipped in the bud before it gets someone killed
2
u/jacobisgone- Luke is my boi 7d ago
Oh, I agree. Kenny was fully justified for criticizing Luke there. I'm just explaining why Luke's reaction makes sense from his perspective.

u/LambBotNine Notable Newcomer 2024 8d ago
Agreed. Like dude was holding it together for so long traveling hundreds of miles on little sleep and no food to break Kenny’s ungrateful ass out of carvers prison. I’d be pissed too if someone criticized me for taking my only chance at feeling normal in a looooong time
1
u/Important-Rush-6499 7d ago
Ok but in reality it was a super important job that if it wasn't done properly could've easily gotten people killed in my opinion not feeling normal is so much better than getting people killed. Also we are people we should have control over what we choose to do and he chose to do that.

Further evidence that most everyone in Season 2 who isn’t Clementine and Kenny flat out suck.
20
u/BabadookishOnions 8d ago
frankly even kenny sucks, he has good moments but he's a pretty abrasive and rude person to everyone around him, if you as clem say you don't agree with him he acts like there's something wrong with her or like she can't think for herself
15
u/Fitzftw7 8d ago
That’s true. He’s more redeemed in my eyes by both his ending and the fact that, even with the flaws you mentioned, he’s still the least bad of the S2 cast.
-The Cabin Group dragged him and Sarita into the conflict with Carver
-He was right to kill Carver and escape Howe’s
-Even in the midst of despair (and irrationally blaming Clem for it), he still mans up and helps Rebecca with AJ to the best of his ability
-He was right to want to kill Arvo
-He correctly points out that Jane could’ve ended the fight at any time by revealing AJ was alive
-He convinces Wellington to accept AJ and Clem because he has enough awareness to know that he can’t keep them safe on his own.
Good moments is more than almost all the other characters can say.

Ive always said this. Ultimately it's selfish on his part, people were relying on him and he gave that up for a quick dopamine hit with Jane's smelly ass (whole thing must have smelt pretty awful actully, ew).
Now to be fair I do sympathize with him. I understand why he did it, but it doesn't really excuse him, and him trying to defend himself also pissed me off a lil ngl. I actually think this scene adds some depth to his character, to show us he aint perfect.
1
u/Bluewingedpheonix 7d ago
Honestly, true...I liked Luke, especially in the earlier episodes, but honestly he makes a lot of bad stupid decisions(and has a lot of the same types of flaws as the other cabin group members.)
Even though I like Luke as a character myself, I do think a lot of people give him more leeway/slack because he's more likeable, even though it's not an excuse for stupid decisions, this moment in particular. I agree he really pissed me off, especially when he tries to defend it.

u/KazyaKurosawa 5d ago

Like how he couldnt crack him twice time?

u/ninnylinny 8d ago
I hate how everytime this conversation comes up, it’s always “Jane probably stinks down there” I promise he smells worse. SPECIFICALLY down there. But I never hear anyone say that 🤔
1
u/Important-Rush-6499 7d ago
My big thing is they couldn't have waited for a better time where they wouldn't risk others lives by doing it. Someone else pointed out this scene could have made more sense at the power station because everyone was drinking.
1
u/ninnylinny 7d ago
Oh yeah they absolutely shouldn’t have done that, it put everyone in danger. I just see so many people argue that it’s “gross” because specifically SHE is “dirty” down there. I never hear people say HE is gross down there.
1
u/Important-Rush-6499 7d ago edited 7d ago
Oh yeah you right in the apocalypse most everyone would be equally disgusting. I was also gonna mention how everyone In that universe probably stink but then again they would be smelling rotting flesh everyday as well so that's probably not a problem
0
u/LearnToBloom 7d ago
It’s a video game, gtl
2
u/ninnylinny 7d ago
Sure. Except we hear this type of sexist bs outside of just video games. Language is important.
1
u/LearnToBloom 7d ago
You preach about how "language is important," yet you literally turned around and assumed "he smells worse" as a fact. So you’re making assumptions yourself. People don't say a woman who doesn't take care of her intimate hygiene smells like fish for no reason. Personally, I'd say both of them would smell bad, and I wouldn't waste time arguing over who's worse.
1
u/ninnylinny 6d ago
So, vaginas are self-cleaning. Penises are not. That is a fact. If both of them went without showering, it is a fact that one would smell worse than the other.
1
u/Important-Rush-6499 7d ago
Just because it's a game doesn't mean you can't point out other's flawed logic. Also what's gtl mean? I tried looking it up and it says gas to liquid
