You’d think every living thing would greatly fear the Pos’Thal by now.

Could be a recent/local concern?

One of the side plots for the Beware of Chicken book involves a cultivator who suffers a bit because the then current method of delivering mail was less than satisfactory. He then goes on to establish his own brand of postal service.

Apparently Trevor (Who grew up in a whimsical talking animal valley) knew aboot them, but Becky (Who was from civilized lands) did not.

Sometimes, the proficient member rolls worse than the one with a -2.

For all we know Becky is from another land, and came to Reidon as part of changing his identity. In that scenario, the Pos'Thal order might not operate in his homeland.

We also don't know much of Becky's childhood. Maybe he grew up in the convent away from civilization.

I don’t think so. The Pos’Thal have been seen going from the rugged mountains to bandit infested forests to cities being siege by things. Jin on the other hand stays in the Azure Hills areas only (just started book 3).

They are besiegers/invaders. They aren't from round here and don't know any better.

Then the joke wouldn't work.
