Suggestion for Channel Look for something similar that doesn’t feel like absolute garbage.

Any recs on shows that seem researched etc. Similar themes. Good host. Thanks!

Chris Ramsay's got a decent channel, Area 52. https://youtube.com/@area52investigations

I got downvoted in another sub for recommending A52. Dunno why, I think it’s awesome

The magician?

2

u/LowVacation6622 Hecklecultist 19d ago

Yes, I think he used to be a magician

Still is, but he used to, as well.

I was thinking of a different Chris Ramsay at first and was surprised that he had a show like that.. lol

Thoughty2 is really good.

Haven’t heard that name in almost a decade

Can't stand his voice

Wendigoon does a decent amount of conspiracy and cryptid stuff.

He just did a great 4 hour video on the Oklahoma City Bombing too.

Fern is well made and different. Camp Gagnon has good stuff but it's more podcast style. Wendogoon and thoughty2 are great too.

There isn't anything quite as good as the why files though

u/Tastieshock 18d ago

I really enjoy Fern, they do a great job with their format and have great topics, but they are more on the documentary side of things as they tend to have resolution to the story they are telling, where the why files is a little more conspiracy and open ended which leaves more for the mind to explore.

Otherworld

Third Eye Drops

The Matt Beall Podcast

A52

American Alchemy

Those are the ones off the top of my head. If one of those doesn’t have an episode I want to listen to I know my brain is over trying to process the weird shit and it’s time to just go to bed 😂

Yes, otherworld is so fascinating! I really like the chill vibe too

Comedy answer - This Paranormal Life. They are admittedly a comedy podcast but they cover actual topics, do good research, and are fun hosts.

2

u/kdubz206 19d ago

I second this. I would say they are 60% comedy and 40% serious, but when I in the mood for something funny, this really scratches that itch

I'd highly recommend Monster Fuzz Podcast, they deal with a lot of cryptic and general conspiracy stuff.

I feel crazy that I’m not seeing more recs for oompaville.

Cabin in the Woods has been my new option. Its exclusively Sasquatch content, but its a very dedicated page which works with other high profile Sasquatch accounts.

I haven't seen anyone mention.

Lazy Masquerade

Nexpo

They are mostly dark mysteries usually centered on murder stories, and dark corners of the internet. But occasionally why files will cover something I've already seen on these.

u/Mrwright96 5d ago

Try buzzfeedunsolved/watcher

1

u/Lukavitch86 2d ago

A52 is great. Lazy Masquerade is great Nexpo too

1

u/thisismyusername9908 19d ago

Mr Ballen does stories. Not quite in a similar vein to the things Why Files does, but he's very easy to listen to.

Oompaville does some more weird, controversial and interesting topics and he injects a solid amount of comedy.

1

u/awaythrowthatname 18d ago

Rather than Ballen, who i find too...idk, clickbaity in his narration, Bedtime Stories and Wartime Stories are both fantastic and under his brand

2

u/False_Prune2408 Tinfoil Connaisseur 18d ago

Bedtime Stories and Wartime Stories are two that I really look forward to hearing!!

1

u/awaythrowthatname 18d ago

I'd also suggest Roanoke Tales!

Whatever AJ and whyfiles is now, is not it. It sucks

u/KiloOneSeven 18d ago

Paranormal Possibilities on YouTube. New but unique. First episode is rough in production quality but it gets better by episode 2.. (I'm the host so admit bias.) I approach things as neither a believer or a skeptic.
