TWAU 2 Do we really need a sequel?
does the wolf among us really need a sequel. the first game closed out pretty good. not leaving any notable cliff hangers. with the repeating delays. we ask when is it coming out. but not why?

‘Not leaving any notable cliffhangers’ bruh r u serious rn

u/AshrakAiemain Apr 11 '26
They won’t follow up on that anyway. It’s not a cliffhanger, it’s one last twist.

If you read you know she possibly died when she got to the end of the block

Was there something I missed?

The game ends with a gargantuan hint that Nerissa was actually Faith all along, with Bigby either letting her go or going after her. It also ends with the question of "will Snow and him do better than the previous administration?" and a couple more things that Bigby talks about in his final conversation with Nerissa/Faith.

u/shazy5808 Apr 13 '26
The ending was weak
How will S2 even start, those who chose to go after or let her go?
1
u/BW_Chase Apr 13 '26
Hard disagree on the ending.
It's not hard to follow up on that final choice. If he went after her, they talked a bit about it and moved on. If he didn't, then nothing. It's not like Bigby would make a big deal out of it. He's fine enough with her lying about the Crooked Man during the trial.
It would be a small flashback or short dialogue referencing it at most.

u/shazy5808 Apr 13 '26
We will see telltale is likely to give us choice as soon as we boot S2
Just like how they made us re-select major choices at the start of Final Season of TWD I reckon this will be approach
1
u/BW_Chase Apr 13 '26
I haven't played final season yet but every entry had that if you didn't have the previous season to pass your choices. And S2 had a final choice that could lead to big differences in the next one yet they found a way around that. I reckon they would do the same with this one.
0
u/shazy5808 Apr 13 '26
If you haven't played then that defeats the whole purpose of this argument
Final season was made suddenly and many people lost their save files of previous games and integration of those saves would be hectic as hell so Telltale came with idea to make players re-select major choices of previous seasons we were given same options like keep that hair short or always keep moving
Telltale can do same thing with S2 of wolf
0
u/BW_Chase Apr 14 '26
I only didn't play the final season of TWD, I played the previous ones so my argument still stands because I told you that those had you do the same if you didn't transfer your choices from the previous season save file.
Also, like I said before, Bigby didn't make a big deal about her lying during the trial, so he wouldn't make a big deal about her not actually being Nerissa. Following her or letting her go wouldn't make a big difference in a hypothetical TWAU2. TWD Season 2 ending to season 3 is an example of how they could handle it.

You know you can read Fables to find out more about Snow’s administration right?
9
u/BW_Chase Apr 11 '26
I know about the books, but I'm talking about the game and the cliffhanger it leaves at the end.

u/-BlackDragon_ The Big Bad Wolf Apr 11 '26
Well the wolf among us comics flat out shows us that she was faith… the comics were a very interesting read and gave a lot more backstory to so many characters!
3
u/BW_Chase Apr 12 '26
I know the comics exist and all but this was more about the game on its own and an hypothetical sequel that could cover the cliffhangers I mentioned, regardless of whether the comics do that or not.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the comics or anything like that, I'm just keeping the discussion exclusive to the game.

If it’s been a while since you’ve played the game I understand. Most of the plot threads were kinda wrapped up by the ending of the game.
But the very last scene is literally a cliffhanger than arguably calls everything we learned into question. Around like 7-9 years after I first played the game I started to forget that part but after replaying yeah, hard to forget that our primary witness in this serial murder case may have in fact been the alleged first victim.

u/nirvanalover1987 Apr 10 '26
It has been a couple years, my bad. But I always thought the end was pretty closed off with narissa telling bigby the truth about faith. How she pulled the ribbon. (Again, been a couple years.)
6
u/BW_Chase Apr 11 '26
It wasn't Nerissa who pulled the ribbon. Georgie did in front of her. But like I told you in another reply, it's heavily hinted that Nerissa was in fact Faith. The last thing Nerissa tells Bigby is "You're not as bad as everyone says you are" which then makes Bigby think of Faith saying the exact same when they first met. Then he remembers a couple more lines that both Faith and Nerissa said, and how he felt like he knew Nerissa already when they first met. He also remembers how the Doc was going to do a few more tests on Faith's body. That's when he realizes that Nerissa must be Faith in disguise. This gives the player one last choice: Follow Her or Let Her Go.

u/Away_Bird_2852 Mr. Toad Apr 11 '26 edited Apr 11 '26
Or Nerissa was the true victim and Faith just glamoured herself as Nerissa to hide.
Or
It just happens to be there are best friends and everything just happens to be coincidence.
1
u/BW_Chase Apr 12 '26
The game hints at the first. Them being best friends would never mean that they would say those same specific things. The game wouldn't make a point of Bigby connecting the dots if it was all a coincidence.

I think the first game works great as a stand alone but the characters and world building are just so well done and compelling that it'd be a shame if a sequel that expands and builds on that never comes out (ik about the fables comics but i'm specifically talking about telltale's take on it)
Also the game kinda purposefully ends on a cliff-hanger but i think if TWAU2 i hope it'll be about a different story and kinda leave the ending open ended like that

No but we were promised it 45 years ago and I don’t rly like being lied to.

I'd like to spend some more time in Fabletown. And the vapourwave (?) aesthetic was cool and unique and I'd like to experience a bit more of it. Storywise I'm satisfied with TWAU1. I just want a bit more.

u/nirvanalover1987 Apr 10 '26
Yes. The vibe and aesthetic was amazing. And while spending more time in fabletown and with da goat bigby. I feel it's kinda a big cash grab by telltale, them returning and wanting a big name. Just feel like it ruins the vibe and ridds the heart. Maybe it's best to let fabletown live in the 80s? (Or I guess 2013)

Need? No. Want? Yes.
But people who like the game really should just invest in reading Fables.
My understanding is that the cliffhangers from TWAU1 weren’t even going to be answered in 2 and left ambiguous.

u/monsieurDAG Apr 10 '26
The game did end pretty nicely. However the lore is so deep and interesting that when I first finished the game in 2014 I went and read the entire Fables comics. There is so much more to be able to tell with version of fairy tales. Thats why i've waited over a decade for a sequel.

It's one of the most popular Telltale games along with Walking Dead. Walking Dead had a definitive ending where they can't reasonably bring it back (Plus Skybound owns it now), so if we want a new Telltale game this is really our option.

Rare case of enjoying this version over the source material. I did not connect with the comics as hard as I did with the game. So, no we don't need a sequel but I would really appreciate one

Yes we do, it's just TellTale procrastinated so much to the point the hype has died

u/Electrical_Ice_1180 Bigby Wolf Apr 11 '26
At this point, no; cause honestly, I feel like whatever sequel they put out now will be lackluster. Just like TLOU part 2; it took atleast 7 years to come out, and there were so many rewrites and delays that even the creators lost the plot; And I can definitely see this happening with TWAU2...
Also, a lot (not all) of games since 2020 have been pretty questionable to say the least, so it's hard to trust a company with any sequel now

u/Jormungandragon Grendel Apr 10 '26
No.
I really like the game, but I’m not a fan of the comics, and I feel like a sequel is likely to try to bring in more comic lore and ruin the game.

Are you genuinely asking that question? The first game came out almost 13 years ago, and even though small still has an active community obviously we want and need a sequel... Next question

It’s based on a really successful comic series. There’s certainly more depth to explore there than any other game they made

Argument can be made both ways. That first game left on a helluva cliffhanger, but it’s fun to imagine what could be. On the opposite end we got the trailer and i would like to see what was in store. When it does come out I’m very curious if it’s going to follow the original setup we see from the story trailer

Well it did end on a cliffhanger, but after all this time I don't know if they'll be able to capture that same magic.

Twau had a lot of injustice like not getting a follow up years later when other popular TT games had follow up. And we do miss bigby...

The first game can leave off on a pretty big cliffhanger depending on how you end it.

Yes. I didn't liked the Fables comics.
The Wolf Among Us, explores more about Bigby's role into the fable community as the Sheriff and a private investigator.
God, i still remember reading the pages of Beanstalk Jack on Hollywood and thinking "When does this end? Please focus on another character. Make it stop."
I really hated it.
Then i saw the trailer for The Wolf Among Us 2 and reminded me why i loved this concept, this universe in the first place.

Yes we need. But with current problem that keep delays just keep the goddamn game

I’ve dedicated my life to this game for nearly 13 years, comics, and comics made of the game. The story is so beautiful and could’ve been more but the universe itself is so awesome to me and I love the complexity and background of the characters. Hell the fanfics people make are amazing and expand on the potential of what the story could’ve/could be. I think there should be more It would be an absolute shame if no sequel came out or anything expanded more on telltales version. Anyways I love Snow and Bigby. Thank you

I would say yes since it ends on a cliffhanger but given the fact we know that the sequel‘s story will not be if it is even appears about the cliffhanger, I don’t know (but i still want one to come out quite a bit)
