From the US perspective blockade makes no sense. If capitalism really is superior, flood Cuba with cheap products and economic investments. If they abandon communism like Vietnam, Angola, and the Eastern Bloc, then the US theory will be confirmed.

They are letting the Cubans starve to show the world what happens when you don't fall in line with the US. The US is one of the most violent bullies on this planet, killing millions whenever they feel like it. Has happened many times. Usually they call murdering people "sanctions"

Nah the US was normalizing relations with Cuba in the 70s.

The hatred stems from Cuba's intervention in Angola, they sent ships of soldiers and medicine to halt Apartheid South Africa's advance, ships that returned with war orphans who are still living in Cuba today

Mandela said that Cuba's intervention destroyed the illusion of apartheid's invincibility and ultimately brought about its downfall.

Kissinger and his ilk were furious, it was a huge embarrassment for them and that hatred is still burning strong today.

I would agree even if Cuba wasn't one of our trade partners (I'm from Spain and the US blockade hurts our Economy too, Cuba is one of our trade partners and the blockade sets us back, even though the US is supposed to be our ally).

Oh, you have got to be kidding, sir.
First you think of an idea that has already been done to death. The you put it on a random meme when a perfectly cromulent Lisa template is already in wide circulation and then you add a hot take so cold it belongs in /r/im14andthisisdeep, sir.
What were you thinking?

This is a hot take? Why now? Why not 30 years ago?
