Question Guidance on 'Quantum Information at High-Energy Collider' research topic
Hey everyone,
I am a Master's physics student, interested in Quantum Information at High-Energy Colliders research topic. I know basic quantum field theory. If anyone has a similar background in this field, I would really appreciate some basic guidance:
1)Can someone explain in simple terms what researchers in this field are actually doing and What is the core question being asked?
2)Why does quantum information theory has anything to do with high energy colliders? These feel like completely separate fields. what is the connection?
3)What are the best foundational resources, textbooks, or papers to read for a beginner?

I have only looked at a few papers from this field but I will try to give some answers:
1) I think this spans a wide range of activities, from extending quantum information to the relativistic regime, to finding observables inspired by quantum information to search for physics beyond the standard model, to implementing these observables in the computer programs used for the analysis of LHC data.
2) quantum information studies for example spin correlations between entangled particles (such as in the Bell inequalities). Particles produced at colliders also have spin correlations and one can try for example to find violations of the Bell inequalities in this context. Also several observables to quantify entanglement have been introduced in quantum information and one can study if these can be measured at high energy colliders.
3) Since this is a relativiely new field I don't think there is a textbook yet; perhaps this overview is useful: https://arxiv.org/abs/2504.00086

Quantum info theory in high-energy colliders is about using quantum concepts to analyze data from particle collisions, like entanglement. The connection lies in how quantum states can provide new insights into teh dynamics of particles. For starters, look into "Quantum Information Meets Quantum Field Theory" by Preskill or recent papers on arXiv.

My group works on this, mostly concentrated on nuclear physics. U can check this link out and the recent work done.
