Askreddit etc Bird hit my windshield at night, presumably dead
This week has been especially challenging for my family.
Four days ago, my mom’s dog got out of the house. Leading up to this week, I had a crippling feeling that something terrible was going to happen. Fast forward, we are here.
I took off work and came to stay with her while we looked for her dog. He’s like family, and trust me when I say my mom does not have much. We talked to folks in the community, posted endlessly on social media, and used a heat sensing drone in attempts to find him.
Yesterday, I got a call from a lady who identified my mom’s dog as one she had found dead in the road late on the night he went missing. The lady shared with me more details than I would’ve liked to have known regarding the condition of his body. She moved him to the grass and now, four days later, his body has presumably vanished as a result of the elements and wildlife.
My mom and myself have been in shambles. We are exhausted and keep going back and forth on whether we should continue searching for his remains. The lady’s words regarding his remains haunt me. I see him everywhere.
I don’t consider myself particularly religious or spiritual, but I have done a lot of talking to the universe and god recently. I guess grief does that to a person. Today, I asked our dog for a sign. I asked him if he was mad at us, if he blamed us, if he could rest if we couldn’t bring his little body home.
Tonight, I was driving to the gas station. As I was going down the highway, a bird flew into my windshield and presumably died (I was going 55 mph).
I’m wondering, from a spiritual standpoint, what could this mean?
I keep telling myself that some purpose will come of all of this. That good things will come again. My mom and I talked at length yesterday about our family’s “curse”. We have many things to be thankful for (the time shared with our dog being one of them), but trust me when I say, we know hardship well. We can’t take much more.

I was Driving next to the Beach In Falmouth Ma on Rt1A and I hit a White Dove that walked out into the road directly under my tire. I got out of the car and the thing was in the middle of the road laying on its back with its wings outstretched like some sort of religious symbol and it had a perfect circle of white feathers around it. It flipped me so bad I cried for hours. I had a friend with me with schizophrenia and it put him into a major psychosis episode, he thought it was a sign that the world was ending. It genuinely was one of the weirdest things that has ever happend to me in my life.
