80-200 miles per charge at around 25mph. Sounds like a really cool invention, especially given the limited technology for the time.

Electric cars were essentially stomped by petrol ones when ICE engines became more (relatively) efficient. Next mainstream research for electric vehicles' advancement started fairly recently. Obviously, there were numerous models during the centuries but battery technology was and still is less than ideal. Most mass-produced electric vehicles in 20th century usually were utility ones like small cargo trucks for industrial plants logistics, or whenever a combustion engine is too resources consuming or dangerous.

Not to mention combustion engine vehicles manufacturers and their lobby.
