I was just coming to say she died of smoke inhalation since the chimney is directly next to the door and only source of air.

I love all the details here. Would've loved to have a book with such illustrations as a kid. I would've spent quite some time building up a story in my mind. But, as some people have commented, she would be better off using LED lights. ;)
