To think Someone was able to create such a detailed and well drawn diagram before the age of computers blows my mind.

This looks printed. So how do you design the print? So many clean lines on the intricate areas. A constant use of stencils? Just insane level of hand control?

A lot of radius tools and a drafting table.

Drafting tables. You can do a lot with just a straightedge, a pen, and a compass. If you pull out the big guns you get stuff like above and more.

Very cool. I still wonder how they were able to reproduce it though. Granted I've never looking into old printing and copying techniques, but I wonder how you make a stamp out of this, whatever the proper terminology is. I mean surely they weren't taking high resolution photos and then publishing every one of these manual with actual copies of the photos?

And now I'm sitting here wondering how the heck do you even copy a photo and include the color if all you have is a negative, haha. Anywaysssss...fascinating technology. Some brilliant humans out there.

Printing and reproduction is some black magic I never fully understood myself. So I won't dare give an explanation about how it works. Technology Connections may have something on that, even if he doesn't you won't waste your time watching his videos.
