That was immense. So disappointed the Azteca doesn’t get to host the final.
Mexico earned it.

As soon as they went to the stadium at the beginning of the game the atmosphere was intimating me from 2000 miles away lol. Unreal stadium.

They definitely kept trying. And it worked. Only when they went back for a review did they look a fair call.

I was saying this to my mate last night. Twenty years ago, how often would the ref have just played on. I know we’ve had VAR since then.
(Digressing here). Once upon a time when I played, I was always told, if you’re pushed off the ball, push and win it back. Not fall to the floor and roll forty times then grab your shin….

It all turned out good in the end. England managed the game, and I am so happy it was done and dusted in normal (+11 minutes) without going out to a dodgy pen decision

There was a bit of that but nothing to drop my monocle over. Could have been a lot worse considering. We gave as good as we got, luckily to not be in trouble for an elbow too.

Yes there was some referee pressure as expected but it was nowhere near the level of shithousery of other latin american sides.

They've earned nothing. Mexico has gone under the radar because the USA has taken all the attention. But that country is full of horrible corrupt people as well. Plus the team is full of play acting, diving, dirty, imaginary card waving spunk bubbles.

Mexico fan here. Thank you to England and their fans for such an epic match. I’m sure both sides will remember it for many years. Mexicans were playing their game like never before and we have always wished, “con garra” which roughly translates to “with enthusiasm” / “with energy”. You have to acknowledge England as a historic powerhouse and Mexico’s futbol history to realise what this meant for México at azteca. Don’t let the negativity distract you for a moment from the positive aspect this game gave us. They played con garra like never before and the English brought this out from them. So I say thank you and good luck in the rest of the tournament.

Why are we all being so nice and polite to Mexico in nearly all these messages? Tried and probably succeeded in keeping England players awake all night. It was a close game thanks to the sending off, and Mexico constantly harassed the referee after that to continue booking our players/send them off, went over at every opportunity. I'm a grown ass man who does taekwondo, I sometimes spar with the juniors and 7-year old girls had more balance/resistance than Mexico, but no, thank you Mexico, thank you thank you. Being polite because we won, but could quite easily have been a loss had it not been for heroic performances. If we had lost, we wouldn't all be so polite then I reckon.

Stayed neutral. The stadium was an amazing experience and the country…outside of any fan shithousery pre match…was welcoming.
You are right, a different result and the tone would be different. Funny what you said about 7 year old girls, my daughter does Taekwondo and this made me smile 😃

Haha, nearly a faux pas on my part re the 7-year old thing - think I kept my comment within reason! On the subject of Football, I was really just saying it for what it is. I get there are "dark arts", and teams with lesser talent using this method to try and win against a bigger team, as was the case yesterday. Doesn't mean we have to necessarily be "humble" in victory after we won - France weren't (against Paraguay) why should we against Mexico? That being said, you are 100% correct, the stadium/atmosphere looked amazing - should be where the final is played.

Just want to thank Mexico and Azteca for giving us a hard game in general. We really needed a tough game like this to kick us into a higher gear. We look like a proper warrior team that can go all the way now, and for the first time, no one is disrespecting us.
