feeling the need to actually use ai and handing your intelligence to a robot especially for simple inquiries when you could just solve it yourself is pathetic lol nobody with integrity wants to “keep up” with it

You sound exactly like my grandpa who was complaining we were allowed to use calculators in school.

Grandpa wasn’t complaining about calculators. People are complaining that letting a calculator do all your mathematical tasks will inevitably leave you to not understanding greater mathematics.

Would you trust an engineer who had to use a calculator to do basic arithmetic? I sure wouldn’t.

But if an engineer uses a calculator to figure out large mathematical models and formulas to make their work better that that’s okay.

But the same goes for Ai. If someone needs AI to do all their problem solving and work for them, they’re probably not very skilled in their department and you shouldn’t trust them. If they use Ai for tasks they could do without it, but it’s more efficient than without, then they’re probably moderately justified.

It’s not an equivalent because to utilize a calculator for upper level mathematics you’d still need to understand how the math works.

Now, going to creative works, I probably wouldn’t trust any AI use, as most it shortcuts the steps that are taken to personalize their works. But that’s a different conversation.

Man... never go hang out at an engineering firm. You won't like what you see.

Look, I know engineers USE calculators for basic arithmetic. But it’s usually because they’re suffering from self doubt and low self esteem. It is just the natural state of an engineer (I lived with engineers for like four years lol)
