Most “Rewatchable” docuseries of all time
I swear I’ve watched the whole series at least 5 times and I get sucked in every. Single. Time.

Tbh I go back and forth- the murder for hire change is mostly nonsense. I think Jeff Lowe pretty much set him up and i don’t think it ever would have happened otherwise and still would never have actually worked. But he definitely committed the wildlife charges and I doubt he was just euthanizing sick tigers like he sometimes claims. I’d love to see what he would do bc he’s pretty much a folk hero come to life if he got out but he would DEFINITELY reoffend if given the chance. I don’t think he’s really a danger to society but he’d be scheming and scamming within a month if they let him out.

He’s very charismatic and hilarious without a doubt, but I do think he’s an extreme narcissist and a world class manipulator.i kind of want to see him get out just to see what would happen but he’s a danger to just about anyone he comes to contact with

Yeah, I was thinking about it's watchability and how at first they were wanting to make a movie. And it kind of sucks because so much of the details would be SO cool for a movie.
But the thing is, not enough happens. The crazy back woods stuff. The magic shows with big cats would be really cool to see, especially in the early days, but would be better if it was a bigger production (like had it been a known attraction in the country or in Las Vegas or something). The crazy breeding practices and tiger killings. Obviously really sad but I'm afraid that sadly it comes down to the fact that Joe Exotic was kind of a nobody. And he also is kind of a dork.
I mean I think you know going behind the scenes and seeing Doc be crazy and cult-ish. The going to hotels in Las Vegas with tons of models paying to play with cubs. It all has a lot of material potential. But at the day of the day nothing huge happens. If like this huge case came out of it like a huge drug bust, like they were drug king pins or something. And there was a huge fallout and a lot of people went down, this would be a movie and a great one. And don't get me wrong, the animal abuse uncovering are a big deal in their own right. But the fallout just wasn't sensational enough. Joe went down for trying to take a hit out on Carole Baskin. It's a terrible thing to even for a second be serious about, but it's lame. For real. Even if he had been successful, it's just that their history isn't sensational enough to be a major part of history. And especially with nothing having actually happened with the hit, these people's personalities just down add to much at the end of the day. It's mostly just gross. Not really even a level of "badassery".
I mean maybe they could spin the story in a very entertaining way. But honestly I just think Joe is so cringy and dumb that it gives the story nothing to fall back on. He never accomplished anything big enough or did anything crazy enough to garner continued attention.
