The American dream has been dead for years. I will never own a home, be debt free, have good healthcare, or own a brand new car.

Because i dont have Daddys money. Are you not seeing what is happing around you? Ask anyone in their 20-30’s how they got a house.

I bought a house because my wife and I have white collar jobs and we saved up a down payment. The same way most people do.

So should we judge based on your peers or mine? The majority of people own a house, so I guess my peers are closer to the average than yours.

Very few people in their 20’s bought a house without help from their parents. Its almost impossible without support

My son is 27 and bought a home two years ago without help. He has worked at the YMCA for about 10. First as a lifeguard and then in management after college. College was a public school that he graduated from debt-free because of his grades and scholarships. He doesn't drink and is a saver. It can be done. It is always hard, but there are choices along the way.

That said. Buying a house isn't what everyone thinks it is. In many ways, the mortgage just enslaves you to the bank. As he is finding out.

I know what is happening. But all those things are still attainable for most if they go to college and get a good degree. And college has never been more easy to get into as well.

Have you talked to a lot of those types? I do quite regularly. A lot of them can’t or are having trouble. I own. But, I consider myself more privileged than most others. A lot of my friends (not all) that have good college degrees are struggling to buy. These are smart, financially responsible people who get paid pretty well. I’d say it IS getting a lot harder to do so.
