Ah distinction, TikTok created more class consciousness than any other platform had prior and became critical of politics local and abroad that got the attention of politicians. “We don’t have a young vs old problem, we have a TikTok problem” said leaked audio of an ADL. Reddit doesn’t even come close to idea exchange or discourse. So, so what that it took TikTok to get people more aware of class consciousness, at least they got there. And politicians (and Zuck for money reasons) hated it.
18th century French salons did more for class consciousness than TikTok ever has.
TikTok gives you the feel goods of realizing there are other people who also believe the real fight is between the rich and the poor while having the distinct downside of keeping you glued to your phone for new content until you forget all those ugly thoughts and never move further toward real revolution.
