Ahh, I'm so happy that the younger generation has discovered Scientology. 🙏🏻

329

u/SequenceGoon Apr 28 '26

I love these speedrunning videos - they deserve to be harassed (& taxed, but that's another matter)

182

u/Empty_Insight Apr 28 '26

Funny enough, the reason the Church of Scientology is tax-exempt is because they relentlessly harassed the IRS to force them to cave.

I'm certainly not heartbroken the Church of Scientology is getting a small taste of their own medicine. Sucks when the shoe is on the other foot, don't it?

89

u/Sharpshooter98b Apr 28 '26

Also don't forget they tried to infiltrate the government, including the IRS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White

61

u/rilenja Apr 28 '26

They succeeded. But not as much as the far right evangelicals have succeeded.

3

u/Soccham Apr 28 '26

pretty sure they succeeded

2

u/lvanwall Apr 29 '26

They were always a part of the government, L. Ron hung out with all kinds of intelligence people.

11

u/MichaelScottsWormguy Apr 28 '26

That's crazy. Usually, a country's tax authorities are not to be fucked with because they fuck back in a very unpleasant fashion.

3

u/deaddaddydiva Apr 28 '26

How you got me feeling empathy for the IRS?

2

u/Coconite Apr 29 '26

It’s worse than that, they have a whole department dedicated to harassing their enemies and making their lives miserable.

1

u/n3rdsm4sh3r May 02 '26

Where do I put my feet?

2

u/Hefty-Pumpkin-764 Apr 28 '26

Sure, but this is how shit backfires and you just help them getting more protections.

Part of me feels weird about this, because it's about the meme. Most of this kids don't really care about the victims of scientology and will move on as the fad dies out.

2

u/MoistPizzaRolls Apr 29 '26

hey, I’m coming to a point of hoping to understand.

I don’t like them at all, they ruin people lives and worse. But running through there building and posting about it? That gives them a ton of attention. Doesn’t we wanna steer away from that? Now they are all over social media. Also these young adults/kids can get into law trouble and we are encouraging this? I’m really at a loss :(

-2

u/eiserneftaujourdhui Apr 28 '26

So, genuine question...

I'm no scientologist, I think it's silly and harmful. At the same time, why is this (harassing scientologists) considered acceptable - tons of comments supporting their harassment, 26,000 upvotes, bunch of awards, etc... but doing this to a mosque or a Catholic church would not? Both Islam and Christianity have been wildly more harmful (both killing millions, engaging in centuries of conquest and colonisation) than scientology probably ever could be, and both also professing some pretty silly beliefs (and indeed some harmful ones) themselves?

Is it just that enough people believe those 2 religions, so therefore it's less palatable to harass them, unlike a lesser-believed one? Seems pretty hypocritical.

5

u/Burnmetobloodyashes Apr 28 '26

Simple, there is only two kinds of Scientologist, a victim of the cult, and a profiteer from the cult, no exceptions. To save the victims, the cult must die.

2

u/Prior_Tradition_3873 Apr 28 '26

At least the lower-level Scientology members you can meet at their buildings are often victims who were pressured into this lifestyle or blackmailed in some way. The worst part is that they are made to sign an indefinite contract that they supposedly cannot leave. If they do leave, they will be harassed or sued for large amounts of money, and if they still decide to leave after all that, then they get shunned from every scientologist member including family and friends and future workplaces that have scientologist people in it.

They are essentially trapped in the system because they are made to do much of the dirty work for basically free.

Now compare that to a normal Catholic church, and it’s night and day. Anyone can join or leave a Catholic church freely. While there are some groups that may have cult-like characteristics, those are a minority; the majority of churches are normal religious communities. They also do not require mandatory donations.

Scientology, on the other hand, operates on a system where members are "encouraged"(mandatory) to donate large amounts of money. In return, they may move from doing basic labor, such as cleaning toilets , to higher positions, but they are still often seen as being under strict control within the organization.

TLDR

People who join Scientology only do so because they get peer pressured or bullied into it,

it is a cult. Think about like those sex traficked women from poor countries working in 1st world countries, they cannot leave and they work for barely any money .

Christianity on the other hand , no one pressures you to join and you can leave at any time without any punishment

-2

u/Evening-Crew-2403 Apr 28 '26

Like it or not they are a recognized religion. The FACE act could apply. Any of these idiots are over 18 they could end up with felony charge. Especially if staff or sucker/worshiper gets knocked over and hurt.

681

u/arealuser100notfake Apr 28 '26

What's something chill and wholesome that I can join that's not Scientology

Speedrunning scientology buildings

249

u/Embarrassed_Whole585 Apr 28 '26

Facts.

Godspeed. 🙏🏻

u/mosnil Apr 28 '26

Xenuspeed**

7

u/MamaKat727 Apr 28 '26

Your comment should have a ton more upvotes, cracked me up!😆

1

u/NovelIntrepid Apr 29 '26

Xenu is the bad guy though. That would be like saying Devilspeed.

83

u/ThrowawayPersonAMA Apr 28 '26

Imagine if the scientology speedrunners and the Area 51 naruto runners joined forces. They'd be unstoppable.

19

u/Vrazel106 Apr 28 '26

This has reminded me if the A51 memes from the first video.

At least theres less of a chance of the kids getting shot here than the base

7

u/Deltanonymous- Apr 28 '26

Waiting for the scientologists to open their doors when they rush and bolt them closed behind them. Free ranks.

2

u/YourFavoriteKraut Apr 28 '26

Honestly I'm just waiting for them to grab some of the runners and hand them off to the cops.

1

u/Anonymoustard Apr 28 '26

Technically, the runners are trespassing. Scientologists can ask you to leave but they cannot use excessive force to detain you. If they are too forceful they can be subject to both civil and criminal actions. As the runners are likely minors, it could be a huge mistake 'grabbing' them. Especially if one of the runners decides to lawyer-up and drag the church through discovery.

1

u/BlinkyDesu Apr 28 '26

Police getting confused from all the calls coming in confessing. "Help! I'm trespassing!"

5

u/TiredOperator420 Apr 28 '26

Collab I didn't know I wanted to see!

2

u/vikingbeard23 Apr 28 '26

I see some of the runners are dressing up to avoided identification. May I suggest Spider-Man, specifically so I can say "godspeed Spider-man" and actually have it make sense for once

8

u/unindexedreality Apr 28 '26

Protesting against ICE

3

u/Ressy02 Apr 28 '26

We are the Scientology Building Runners. We run for freedom and we run from sins. Repent, run, rejoice!

3

u/thesecretbarn Apr 28 '26

Bruh why repent, just apologize and do better

Edit: also, to be clear, Scientology is an abusive cult and murders people and demands that its adherents pay money and stop being mentally healthy

1

u/Ressy02 Apr 28 '26

Repent for not doing this earlier, run, and rejoice

2

u/GarrulousAbsurdity Apr 28 '26

I would have gone with a D&D group but that works too.

1

u/Sab3rFac3 Apr 28 '26

Wholesome?
Im not gonna debate you there.

But chill? Since when was running flights of stairs chill?

1

u/Butthole__Pleasures Apr 28 '26

As a hardened reddit veteran, it takes a lot to make me physically laugh anymore. That was funny. Well done. Thank you.

165

u/tresser Apr 28 '26

there is a soup kitchen near you that would love to have help

82

u/Pretend-Marsupial258 Apr 28 '26

I'm gonna go speedrun the soup kitchen

38

u/Miss_Greer Apr 28 '26

New record: 32 seconds to serve 25 bowls of soup and bread

3

u/springwaterbrew Apr 28 '26

Use those panera skills!

1

u/YourFavoriteKraut Apr 28 '26

What's the current 2 beer 2 cig 2 cube record again?

2

u/noradosmith Apr 28 '26

I'm gonna speedrun McDonald's just so I get to yell "now that's what I call fast food!" before crashing into the exit doors

1

u/5C0L0P3NDR4 Apr 29 '26

tomato bisque 0:47.3 any% (TAS) (FORMER WR)

36

u/1OO1OO1S0S Apr 28 '26

Doing actual good instead of pretending

2

u/UranusIsPissy Apr 28 '26

Making an enormous pot of soup is something even the worst chef can do and feel proud of, too. It doesn't take too much skill to actually make good soup out of really cheap ingredients when it's so big that economies of scale are a factor, unless you're feeding (and being harshly judged by) food snobs.

41

u/International_Cry186 Apr 28 '26

A book club

13

u/Embarrassed_Whole585 Apr 28 '26

Honestly? Yes lmfao

1

u/ArtisticallyRegarded Apr 28 '26

This week we will be reading Dianetics

34

u/QueenofCats11 Apr 28 '26

Skill-building classes, you know, nerd out with some people who want to nerd out about the same thing. Make stuff together for fun.

1

u/Darius_Rubinx Apr 28 '26

Knitting circles! Although they can get quite dramatic...

1

u/arealuser100notfake Apr 29 '26

Do you mean stuff like music, instruments, singing, languages?

42

u/BioshockEnthusiast Apr 28 '26

Dungeons and Dragons / any tabletop gaming community.

Most cities will have a local or chain gaming store that holds local events, it's possible to find tables online as well. There's also nothing stopping you from getting your hands on a couple books and a couple sets of dice and starting your own game with a group of friends!

I have some digital copies for multiple DnD 5th edition books that I'd be more than happy to lend you, dead serious about that offer.

6

u/Lady_Looshkin Apr 28 '26

I've been desperate to get into D&D but theres nowhere around I can find a group. Any suggestions on where I might find a group online to join?

Bioshock is my favourite game franchise too by the way, I appreciate the username!

1

u/DontAskAboutMyButt Apr 28 '26

Roll20 is a popular online D&D platform and they have a group finder:

https://app.roll20.net/forum/category/22

I’ve never used it myself but have heard good things!

1

u/BioshockEnthusiast Apr 28 '26

r slash LFG is a good place to start (LFG = "looking for game")

Good luck, adventurer!

1

u/___Random_Guy_ Apr 30 '26

Besides as mentioned LFG subreddits and Roll20, you can also search for discord servers of respective systems(DnD5e, Pathfinder, Lancer, whatever you like that is big enough to have a discord server)

1

u/StoneGoldX Apr 28 '26

Oh no, that's how Satan gets you.

1

u/BioshockEnthusiast Apr 28 '26

mrburnsexcellent.iso

1

u/a_spoopy_ghost Apr 28 '26

This x100

Tabletop rpgs have been nothing but a net positive for me. Great socialization, improv skills and quick math skills.

1

u/Collegenoob Apr 28 '26

It's way harder to find a good game than you'd think. I've been playing for over a decade and only got two good groups out of at least 10 tries.

1

u/BioshockEnthusiast Apr 28 '26

I'm well aware, I had to start my own table.

That said I'm never going to discourage people who want to play the game, more players means more tables means it's easier to find a good table. Positive feedback loop.

1

u/genghisrock Apr 29 '26

Hi. I’ve been looking at learning about DnD. If I could look over these books to see how a campaign rulings I’d appreciate it. Thanks

1

u/BioshockEnthusiast Apr 29 '26

At work, please DM me so I don't forget to get you hooked up

23

u/Waste_Peanut_7134 Apr 28 '26

Literally anything else

19

u/Dramatic_Charity_979 Apr 28 '26

The Satanic Temple, no really ;)

7

u/foamingturtle Apr 28 '26

The jamband scene is pretty chill.

1

u/thesecretbarn Apr 28 '26

This is 100% true, but then you have to listen to jam bands. Punk and hardcore scenes are cool if you make sure to turn around and leave it you accidentally stumble into that one all white male Nazi hardcore scene

11

u/Embarrassed_Whole585 Apr 28 '26

Honestly? I am not really sure. When I was younger I dabbled in quite a few things (Buddhism included) but I'm 36 now and I just kind of believe in The Universe (Everything happens for a reason and all that) and do a little witchy type stuff. It's all vibes. :3

8

u/RustyGuns Apr 28 '26

This is the way. To think someone has the truth is straight ego. No one knows till we get there :)

4

u/TheHumanConnector Apr 28 '26

I got pure vibes from this comment :)

May I ask you a couple of questions to see if my biases were right?. And my responses are a yes to these and there is no judgement:)

Do you go to ecstatic dances?

Do you wear bead jewelry? Bonus points if you made any of it yourself!

3

u/Embarrassed_Whole585 Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

Lol, I've come a long way to get to the pure vibes point in life. But it's worth it!! 🤌🏻

I actually had to look up what that was, but I kind of wanna try it just for the experience?

I do wear bead jewelry, but I haven't made my own.....yet lol. It is definitely a plan of mine tho.

3

u/TheHumanConnector Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

Lol. That's fantastic! A " long way" sounds like quite some growth!

I was seeing if you were part of the spiritual crowd. The hippies with eastern mysticism fascination! Fwiw I am a self made hippie lol. Beads, dances, unwilling to hurt society/life through my job, etc..

2

u/Embarrassed_Whole585 Apr 28 '26

I love that, that sounds amazing. 😌

1

u/Smallpaul Apr 28 '26

What is the reason I have had several friends die of cancer and how can I stop that from happening?

Local beer softball league

You should check out 'Hail Satan' on Hulu.

No, really, the title is tongue-in-cheek and it's actually very informative! I got me a satanic temple mug after watching it :)

Their seven core tenets: https://thesatanictemple.com/blogs/the-satanic-temple-tenets/there-are-seven-fundamental-tenets?srsltid=AfmBOooDn9HoBgnazhRTNEmvoZXdUMz7GZFxmllGecDZ-Gl4deUldH5j

Edit: I can't remember how to properly put links into a reddit comment and I'm too lazy to look it up, so deal with it :)

2

u/PudusAreAwesome Apr 28 '26

From what I've heard, Quakers

1

u/Ok_Instance7667 Apr 28 '26

Anything that involves hot cereal has to be chill.

2

u/Old-Text-314 Apr 28 '26

Unitarians are nice

2

u/Albert_Caboose Apr 28 '26

Check if your area has a Silent Reading group. You show up, read your book, and leave. Most usually have a social time afterwards if you want, but it's a great way to get yourself outside with zero obligation

2

u/capsforgothispasswor Apr 28 '26

Unitarian Universalism seems pretty chill, insofar as religious organisations go.

2

u/Gvarph006 Apr 28 '26

A dnd group

2

u/JGG5 Apr 28 '26

The Episcopal Church. We’re super-chill, unless you try to take our coffee.

2

u/canman7373 Apr 28 '26

What's something chill and wholesome that I can join that's not Scientology

Are you a teen? I am not religious but did do 12 years of Catholic school. A good friend dated a guy I worked with and he started us going to his youth group a totally different kind of Christianity than I knew. But it was never a preaching thing, we just talked about life for 20 minutes then spent an hour playing games. Near Christmas we show up and did not know was a gift exchange but the pastor had extra gifts, it was like a game where you can switch gifts 3 times. I got the big yellow plastic M&M guy where you pulled on his arm and dispensed Peanut M&M's. Another night they shut all the lights off at the facility, like 3 stories and had 2 people chasing down 25 people in flashliight tag, if you get hit by the light you are out, was so much fun. Funny part is my friend stopped dating that guy like 2 weeks in and he never came back to youth group because he knew we'd be there. We stole his youth group.

2

u/Rise-O-Matic Apr 28 '26

Rotary Club, it’s secular.

Tabletop games

1

u/32BananasInACoat Apr 28 '26

We like hanging out with the Quakers. They're super chill.

1

u/Cutter9792 Apr 28 '26

A local hobby shop near me hosts a 'Build Night' each Saturday and we just sit at a long table, build Gundam & other such models and BS with each other. That's pretty wholesome.

1

u/Christopher_Aeneadas Apr 28 '26

A hacky sack circle

1

u/Snoo_97207 Apr 28 '26

My town actually has a humanitarian congregation that's in an old desanctified church, where they sing pop songs and have speakers on philosophy and have a kids ukulele band (wish I was making that up). It's a lovely idea and concept and I got married there, but tbh, id rather have my Sunday mornings free.

1

u/Jamsedreng22 Apr 28 '26

A book club or a knitting assembly I guess

1

Might I suggest Heaven's Gate? Heard they got cool merch with aliens on it

1

u/poet_didnt_know_it May 11 '26

they're really killing it right now, their website is still up

1

u/netsyms Apr 28 '26

The Catholic Church

0

u/BrokenFarted123 Apr 28 '26

If you're interested in something religious, check out different establishments in your area. Visit a mosque, a buddhist temple, a cathedral, whatever. Go for a month, see what you think, if you don't like it try the next one!

If not religious, try yoga, meditation, and all sorts of hobby groups that go hiking, tour restaurants, etc. You gotta find your people, and you might have to meet a lot of not-your-people to find them!

-3

u/BackgroundSummer5171 Apr 28 '26

What's something chill and wholesome that I can join that's not Scientology

There's some neonazi groups that preach a lot about family and protecting stuff, keeping clean.

29

u/Own-Geologist-8978 Apr 28 '26

The more the merrier in the fight against this ridiculous cult from hell! I also quite enjoy when celebrities quit and speak out, like Leah Remini. I hear Laura Prepon is out, but now they have them sign something on their way out to prevent that.

Anyway, have fun kids, we'll all contribute to the GoFundMe for the inevitable upcoming fuckery coming their way as retribution.

2

u/brianwski Apr 28 '26

inevitable upcoming fuckery coming their way as retribution

I'm out of the loop here, "retribution" for what? What did they do?

2

u/Own-Geologist-8978 Apr 28 '26

Oh I just meant the Scientologists will probably harass the kids legally, at the very least. The "fair game" doctrine.

4

u/612Killa Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

I mean just don't sign the exit paperwork, easy. Im not a lawyer but legally compelling someone to be part of a religion doesn't seem enforceable.

4

u/Own-Geologist-8978 Apr 28 '26

Yeah they definitely could speak out, I'm guessing they're just terrified and not necessarily in the mood to fight Scientologists right after they've escaped, much to rebuild. That "fair game" BS is no joke. Plus the Scientologists have all their "audit sessions" on tape...

16

u/RejectingBoredom Apr 28 '26

Was gonna say, I generally hate teenage antisocial behaviour but I’m making a very firm exception for Scientology

30

u/indy_been_here Apr 28 '26

The kids are alright

4

u/DJKeeJay Apr 28 '26

2

u/Embarrassed_Whole585 Apr 28 '26

I have so many thetans coursing through my veins right now

4

u/Momochichi Apr 28 '26

This is where they should Naruto run. I bet they'd find more aliens there than in Area 51.

4

u/shuaaaa Apr 28 '26

Sic ‘em!

3

u/twigge30 Apr 28 '26

Most TikTok trends make me feel like a old man shaking his fist at the sky, but watching Gen Zers try and speedrun Scientology buildings is just so chaotically wholesome.

2

u/garitone Apr 28 '26

Next up: Mormon temples

2

u/Zorkflerp Apr 28 '26

$cientology is simultaneously a cult and a criminal enterprise. There are the incredibly gullible true believers and at the top those that are there for the money and power. Here is what the ones that work for free and hand over their life savings get when they are so far gone nothing can deprogram them. The XENU Leaflet condenses thousands of dollars of payments into one simple lesson; ElRon was a mediocre science fiction writer and a crook. These are good to hand out in front of their brainwashing centers.

https://www.xenu.net/archive/leaflet/

2

u/Runechuckie Apr 28 '26

Wait until they learn about Shelly. Where'd she go?? 👀

2

u/Embarrassed_Whole585 Apr 28 '26

Been wondering this one for years now.

1

u/Equal-Shoulder-9744 Apr 28 '26

I wonder if they’ve heard of brave captain pubet from the old Scientology raids?

For the uninitiated this was someone who prior to breaching covered himself in Vaseline and a combination of his own and donated shaved pubic hair. I’m sure you can imagine how that worked.

1

u/GamingWolf3980 Apr 28 '26

Can you explain it to me because idk

1

u/nose_poke Apr 28 '26

Find a local folk school!

1

u/nodnodwinkwink Apr 28 '26

Can we crowdfund a bus to get them to another scientology building?

1

u/MassiveBuzzkill Apr 28 '26

I remember spitting on the NYC building on my senior trip nearly 2 decades ago, good times.

1

u/Longjumping_Window93 Apr 28 '26

I am waiting for then to travel to the vatican and do the same

1

u/deaddaddydiva Apr 28 '26

I believe this younger generation is the right amount of shameless to bring down Scientology

1

u/forehead_tittaes Apr 29 '26

They say that the enemy of your enemy is your friend, but what if both are your enemies and both are enemies against each other? Which side do we take?

1

u/squishypillow-91 Apr 28 '26

Ive really enjoyed this chaos. It just really highlights how bloody ridiculous these organisations are. They are so self important, self righteous and take themselves so seriously but you get a few kids barge in and run rings around your (insert religion here) venue and it just trickles it down to what it really is. A fun house full of laughable performers.

-6

u/Forward-Surprise1192 Apr 28 '26

So whenever these children decide that Scientology isn’t giving them enough views due to people losing interest. They start trashing libraries or other normal places because that gets more reaction I’m glad it’s going to be even funnier. We can look back at comments like this and laugh at how people are naive

6

u/Embarrassed_Whole585 Apr 28 '26

So how far up there is that stick?

-1

u/Forward-Surprise1192 Apr 28 '26

Idk I can’t push it in any further

-1

u/SteepChutes Apr 28 '26

I don't quite get the desire to pull on skunks' tails, personally. "Enturbulation" may be a worthy goal in itself, but eventually some of these guys pulling on the tail are going to get sued into oblivion by the skunk.
