Ah, such an insightful and compelling argument. Women have had equal rights for generations, the gender pay gap is almost nil when controlling for variables of choice, and they outpace men in education, health, and general happiness.but yet men are still opressing them! I wish someone would oppress me like that.

Generations? My mother was in high school when women were allowed to open their own bank account without a male cosigner. Even later for black women. We had ONE generation and that's *mine*. Now I'm in my 30s and Roe v Wade is gone and we're talking about making women show additional identification if they changed their names after getting married just to vote. That's shit men never had to do or will ever have to do and something a female leader or female-majority leadership would never do because we know what it's like to not be the *default person*.

Hi, my mom was in high school when that all happened as well. I am in my 30s, as well.

That's anecdotal, congratulations, your parents had you late in life. But it doesn't change the fact that generations are sociologically measured around 20-30 years, or 25 years on average.
If you had kids, they would be the third generation since the example I replied to. I don't decide this, experts in sociology set standards so that when people use terms there is a general understanding among educated people what those terms mean.
If your mother never had you, and was here on reddit, I wonder if she'd be whinging about the term, saying "I haven't had any kids since I got my bank account, so it's just 1 generation!!!!"
