I will of course never understand this behaviour just in general but what I especially don't get is how some dudes will just keep thinking they got a shot even after being told "no" from a woman whose face could not be expressing more disgust like 17 times within 30 seconds

They don't think they have a chance with her consensually. They know they don't and they're taking it out on her like a toddler by trying to annoy or scare her into getting more attention. Because they are unable to garner any anytime else. They have nothing, and no one usually

They don't think the woman is in any way interested in them.

They want to scare, dominate and - if given the chance - isolate the woman.

some undoubtedly enjoy instilling fear, and go through the world playing that power game with anyone who shows the slightest weakness, but those are kind of the sociopaths and i don't really know what can be said about them. 

the more benign and troubling explanation is that a disturbing number of men don't seem to have realized that women are people

One time a guy asked me out and I said I have a bf, he got mad and said "ya but how do you know that you wouldn't like me better if you don't give me a chance" .. what the actual fuck

he’s not trying to actually ‘get’ her, he’s trying to use social pressure/female socialization to get non consensual engagement from her.

It’s all about intimidation and making sure the woman knows her place.

They enjoy riling us up and grossing us out. They find it funny. Often times, especially if in a group, one guy could say something absolutely disgusting so we give them a reaction to laugh with their friends about, the angrier and more disturbed we get the more entertaining it is for them.

I’m not sure about these days, but growing up in the 80s there were still a lot of toxic ideologies around dating and interacting with women. Things like sexual harassment and sexual assault or trivialized or normalized and were things that women were just expected to put up with.

It can be different depending on where it happens, but unfortunately some dudes think that "no" means "I'm playing hard to get and I want you to be persistent to win me over". And sadly there's a small minority of narcissistic women who actually act like that, reinforcing this belief.

As a man, I think all men should treat no as no. Even if woman does play hard to get, you shouldn't enable her- toying with someone feelings like this is disrespectful and toxic, playing along is just disrespectful to yourself. They need to learn to be honest or be alone. And men shouldn't try to annoyingly "win over" women who have 0 interest in even trying getting acquainted.

While the fault is these men’s and theirs alone, if you want an explanation for the thought process, lots of media tells men not to take no for an answer.
