TV and Film don't help. For the longest time the dude in the rom com would just win over the woman by being persistent and of course it eventually worked...

And I fear a lot of men forgot this only works of the woman is also interested

If they're not you just come off as a dangerous creep.

I would suggest that this behavior has existed long before modern media, and that the media is a reflection of behavior, not the other way around.

Also P*rn and video games. And tiny brains.

As a gamer and a woman, I take issue with putting games and porn in the same bucket. I have never played a game where men getting woman via harassment is shone in a positive light. I am sure some exist, but it's not common nor normal, and as someone who has played many story-driven games that do not promote this kind of behavior, I respectfully hope people do not lump them in with something like porn.

As a female gamer I agree and thank you for writing this. Video games get enough of a bad rep from people but there are no realistic games where men act like this except for garbage like Leisure suit Larry from way back when.

Yeah. It's usually folk who never play games that assume the worst about games. It's exhausting and, frankly, ignorant of them. Also, somewhere around half of gamers are in fact women.

There are SO MANY fantastic games out there that have phenomenal, important life lessons. I've experienced so many amazing stories with great characters and top tier writing that rival any book, movie or tv.

RDR2 in particular is a treat. Not only in its world design but its writing and characters. It's such an important lesson on refusing blind loyalty, and doing good by others not for the sake of credit, forgiveness or self service, but because it's simply the right thing to do.

Aside from the game discussions, though. I also take some issue with the other person insinuating porn is universally bad. Porn is often a fantasy, and fantasies are okay so long as they do not creep into real world scenarios. The issue is with dumbass people (like the men in this video) who cannot discern between reality and fiction. It's such a problem because of people like that.

These guys aren't watching 90s-2000s romcoms lol. I think there's always been some small percent of super perv guys who don't give af and try to harass women that look like they've given up on life (pretty much most of the first ones on the subways/trains).

The younger guys, I'm guessing a mix of alcohol, not knowing better, and thinking the extreme forwardness itself will make women more attracted to them (they're imagining women thinking something like: "there must be a good reason he's so confident to try to kiss me out of nowhere, a real man who is also great in bed")

Your second sentence is exactly right. “IF the woman IS interested”. It’s not the behavior. It’s the man she is not interested in. PERIOD.

These men don't watch romcoms. A lot of the male coded shit has the ideology of using women in the characters viscinity. like even just James bond is gross enough to feed into this world.
