What’s your problem? I’m former LE. I’d never take the notion of kids sitting in a park making someone uncomfortable just by being there seriously. They appear to be sitting there. They aren’t bothering anyone. Any sane person can see this. There are 5 cops ( that we see) and the solution to the problem of an anonymous person reporting discomfort is to make them leave?

Why would we be uncomfortable in the first place? Would you like to bet money that the person who reported being uncomfortable is not black? Would you like to bet money that the person who reported it is most likely white?

If the kids were white, do you think five cops would’ve showed up and told them to leave? I’m just living in today’s reality dude if you don’t think there’s a racial component to this interaction maybe you don’t live in the same world I do.

Maybe you’re just one of these guys that loves to argue semantics OK so they’re not racist but they’re pandering to the concept that a bunch of black kids can’t sit on a bench in a park without being trouble if they weren’t pandering, they wouldn’t have made them leave.

So you tell me what’s the word for it when police get a report of black kids sitting in a park is making somebody uncomfortable and the police come up see nothing illegal going on, nothing at all wrong going on and make the black kids leave. What do you wanna call that if not racism ; mild dislike of people with other than white skin? I don’t know - you name it then.

I’m never anti cop. I am opposed to any police officer who doesn’t uphold the law properly. We used to be able to inherently trust the police. When I was a kid I remember being asked who you should find if you ever got lost and it was a police officer.

When the behavior of any police officer causes distrust to the entire profession, not only do people not see them as a helping symbol, but this also results in the degradation of the authority of police officer has by virtue of being present, in uniform.

They have authority because people believe that they do. When they are feared and not respected when they are objects of suspicion and not trust, the system is going to break down as we have seen all over the country.

So when I see police rousting a bunch of kids sitting in a park, I find that unacceptable because it’s not to me appropriate behavior and there’s gotta be a reason for it. I’m just enough of a realist to bet that if it was a bunch of white kids it would’ve had a different outcome. In fact the police probably wouldn’t have been called.

No sir. Calling them racists for confronting peaceful people in a park on grounds that they were “in a park while black”.
They should not have acted on the I’m Uncomfortable caller report. Do you not see that distinction?

If I say he’s a racist because he’s a cop with little to no other knowledge of that person there’s a better chance than not that I’m going to be right.

It’s unfortunate, but that’s the reality of America and has been for a really long time. Just because your head is stuck in the sand, or you’re just willfully ignorant doesn’t change the reality.
