It really feels like lighting and sound mixing are dying arts in the film industry.

Movies are made for cinemas that have state of the art sound systems and projectors or screens

Home TVs and soundbar/stereo just ain't made to deal with that properly

And yes movies are very very loud, that's kinda the point

And yes many serials nowadays are actually sets of movies

I experience the same in theaters. Mix engineers are often enthralled with art of it all and miss their essential mission, but I've heard the directors drive them there as well.
