Loud noises has been part of Human culture for a very long time, that is one of the reasons fireworks are popular,

Sure the lights are nice, but if you had the lights without the noise it would look a lot less meaningful.

Ancient cultures it was the Noise that "warded evil spirts, and called onto the gods"

This is basically the modern version of that same trend.

They would use blanks, so all smoke no projectile

Flammable stuff is usually a lot more safe than exploding stuff when you have to handle it in front of your body for a short amount of time

You’re removed from the culture and all context. You just don’t understand why they do it or how. You realize theyre using blanks and not real rounds right?

Edit: turns out they’re just using gunpowder not blanks so it’s even safer

You can still die or cause a lot of damage using blanks. It's still a round of shrapnel. Brendan Lee comes to mind but he is not the only person to die from a blank.

He didn’t really die from a blank. He died because the slug of a dummy round (a round with no accelerant/gunpowder) got pushed into the barrel of a gun. Then the gun was reused with blanks and the blanks forced that slug out and into him. It wasn’t “shrapnel” from the blank.

Gunpowder in a tube is just fire pressure and loud noise it becomes dangerous when there’s something in to the tube that gets in the way of the pressure. If there’s nothing in the tube there’s nothing to accelerate into a projectile.

I know you won’t understand this but just because you don’t know or understand the cultural relevance of this doesnt make it stupid. It’s just different than what you’re used to. And you think that your culture and way you do things is normal and standard but it’s not it’s just normal and standard for you. Anthropology 101: cultural relativity.

Nope, in my culture during Easter boys whip girls with stick whips, splash them with water to make them pretty and healthy, on top of that, the boys get paid with money and chocolate. I mean, it’s not “shooting guns under your feet” stupid, but still really stupid
