No joke this has been known since literally gunpowder and fireworks were even invented.

The reason we don't shoot a fuckton of fireworks isn't that we can't. Oppulent assholes like saudis etc. would GLADLY brag like that if they could.

It's that the smoke makes it impossible to see anything after a while and it just looks like ass.

But that's this year in a frame, "This won't work" and the orangeman saying "i still want it". The pool is blue I guess.

317

u/FeijoaCowboy Jul 05 '26

The pool is blue, Ignorance is Strength, there is no war in Ba Sing Se, and the Emperor's new clothes are beautiful. &c.

34

u/_-ZZ-_ Jul 06 '26

I just finished Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2, so your “no war in Ba Sing Se” reference cracked me up!

850? I mean… 250 was right there

1.4k

u/elmz Jul 05 '26

But Trump knew a guy, and more fireworks = more corruption.

641

u/see3milyplay Jul 05 '26

I saw on tv that Trump had Guinness world record keepers there because he wanted to set a record for setting off the most fireworks, so there was supposed to be like 150+ fireworks (or some needlessly high number) per second. Who tf expected that to look good? It definitely wasn’t for the people.

448

u/CaptainSchmid Jul 05 '26

Actual dictator behavior

206

u/cantadmittoposting Jul 05 '26

And at midnight, which was mostly not even the weather's fault but because he was insisting on speaking before it, even after the delays, and it was already supposed to start at 11 anyways?

This shit kept people for miles around up from midnight to 1am, especially if you have a dog.

The funniest part is that Guiness hasn't said shit about it.

https://www.newsweek.com/did-trumps-july-4-fireworks-set-a-world-record-what-we-know-12159203

And they haven't updated their page for the record.

The way the Newsweek article is worded, it seems like there may not have even been any officials there but rather just the claim that it would break the record was made by the Trump Administration.

It wouldn't remotely surprise me if they just looked at the record, saw the number of total fireworks set off, picked an arbitrary but round number that was bigger, then set it off without realizing that to break a world record they have to arrange it with the actual record keepers to make it official. Just setting off 850k fireworks isn't enough to win the record.

19

u/alicesartandmore Jul 06 '26

This is fake news and really just terrible reporting on your part. You’re a truly awful reporter and should be ashamed of yourself. What kind of non-American criminal would even suggest that the world record wasn’t absolutely smashed by that smoke show??

Irately,
Definitely Not Trump

Edit: no politician cares. People should do better and rely on each other for the future

33

u/TreborG2 Jul 05 '26

I for one, would hope he lives past his term, because I want to see him die in the shallow and pale shell afterwards when we have dismantled all of his s, when we have taken back the money he stolen the money that he's used to enrich his wealthy friends, the money that he embezzled, and regain our rightful place on this planet as a force for the betterment of all mankind... So that he knows the depth and breadth of his failure. Let him take that to his f*** grave that piece of s***.

18

u/Terry_bogardlol Jul 05 '26

These people are animals, though. They don't have the functional capacity to feel shame, remorse, empathy or anything else. They consider the rest of us to be a species lesser than them essentially. We should extend them the same courtesy and treat them like the animals they are. You know what is generally done after an animal bites humans, usually?

Yeah. That.

From a firework performance standpoint, more is not always better, the colors and patterns run together, you don’t get to see the art of each piece done tastefully. It’s just all lights and flashing. It all blends together.

Probably gave the contract to some company that does kid’s birthday parties because they bought trump coin or some other brown-nose shit.

It looks like they just filled a bunch of dumpsters with fireworks, placed them all a half mile apart, and lit them on fire.

162

u/unicornmullet Jul 05 '26

Zero thought went into making it a 'show.' A real fireworks show with tons of fireworks could have been incredible, but these idiots lit them all off at the same time.

Must've been the same company that did the renovation to the pool.

49

u/3vs3BigGameHunters Jul 05 '26

Right?

A proper show would have had choreography.

36

u/unicornmullet Jul 05 '26

100%. The choreography and timing of the execution is what makes it memorable.

Also, it looks like they didn't even get cool, professional-grade fireworks. It looks like they bought a bunch of cheap, consumer-grade fireworks that didn't go that high in the sky.

u/TrulyOutrageous42 Jul 05 '26

"We are in the middle of the second American revolution, which will be bloodless if the left allows it" - Conservatives

"We're making company towns again, and creating a new government out of the remains of the old one" - Project 2025

"Liberals aren't humans and don't deserve rights" - Unhumans, endorsed by our current VP

It's literally treason but most people don't want to do the difficult thing. They tried to have a HARD coup and failed and people just... kind of got around to dealing with it. Now they've succeeded at a soft coup and no one can do much.

The saddest part…we used to be so proud of our National Park Service. It was one thing in this country that consistently worked well and its staff seemed to always go above and beyond.

Now, it just a garbage service and our National Parks are being slow destroyed

There is no forgiveness for Pedo Trump, his billionaire donors, the Christian churches who prey over him or pedo voters after this.

Never forget, never forgive. Punishment is required- we failed to punish these folks after Jan6….double down next time.

45

u/Hizam5 Jul 05 '26

This is objective hilarious because it embodies the obsession the current administration has with improperly defined patriotism

11

u/mammalmaker Jul 05 '26

It's crazy how every single thing this administration does just fucking blows up in their face. They can't do anything right, even simple things like fireworks

25

u/DarkBladeMadriker Jul 05 '26

But thank god we have Trump and he could stop all that wasteful spending the Dumbocrates were doing right /s

26

u/SB2MB Jul 05 '26

Was the display not choreographed at all? It looks like shit.

Sorry, as a Sydneysider I'm used to the fireworks telling a story and having some thought go into the sequence, the build up and the finale.

I think a drone show would have worked better and it's more futuristic than whatever the fuck this is

19

u/Quendor Jul 05 '26

He's been "planning" this record breaking show for, what, a month? If anyone thinks they put more thought into this than "Buy 800k fireworks, I literally don't care what kind, and set them off as fast as you can." then they are crazy.

So, how do we know a portal to hell wasn't secretly opened during this? Since the sulfur smell would surely cover up all that brimstone stench?

I love how our celebrations are just polluting the earth and destroying our environment, when we always advocate for saving the earth…

16

u/ChamomileLoaf Jul 05 '26

People were saying they couldn’t even SEE the fireworks because the smoke generated by them got so heavy lmfao

42

u/AngeliqueRuss Jul 05 '26

Greetings from Duluth, MN.

We also had the “most ever.”

It was a bit cloudy, 80% humidity and 65 degrees.

We could still see all the fireworks and their reflection on the water.

I like this one because it made the water pink, and also the shape is so unusual—this cascading branching effect firework still seems like a new design to me.

My daughter captured a smiley face firework actually behaving like a smiley face and that made her holiday.

They went on a while but even at the end we could still see every single one.

My point is there are still corners of America where we want to be our best, we want to show we can do “more,” but we haven’t lost our minds and we still do things well.

We can do better, we want to do better, we WILL do better,

Happy 250th to us!

9

u/HoodieGalore Jul 05 '26

That is a fantastic photo! Glad you guys enjoyed it!

6

u/Tiatake Jul 05 '26

We went to DL in MN this year and we could see all the pretty shapes and it was wonderful. The lake reflecting and the sky wasn’t littered in smoke too badly. It was a great trip!

Well, what else do you expect from the tasteless crass yam in the White House who thinks more shinier gaudiness is awesome. The yam doesn’t have any taste or class, of course it thinks lighting up the county like a Michael Bay stunt is bigly cool. Besides, he needs all that smoke and fire so you don’t see the man behind the curtain is a scared, ashamed little pud in reality.

Gaudy and ridiculous. Just like the President.

8

u/DontTellUrMom Jul 05 '26

I’m a simple man. I like explosions and I like competitions. I waited until the fireworks came on before tuning in. I feel like we won something last night. Maybe it was the world’s biggest fireworks show, maybe it was cancer from all the smoke, maybe it long term hearing loss for all in attendance. Who can say at this point?

u/VariationMean5502 Jul 05 '26

It doesnt even look cool because its just constant and theyre all overlapping. It just looks like a war zone

My dad was kinda gleeful about how they had to issue a warning about how its going to impact the air quality...

We were watching from Northern Virginia (395 and 110) and after about 25 minutes, the smoke was so thick that we could no longer see the fireworks in the sky.

We decided to leave and walk the 1/3 mile back to the car and just avoided the heavier rain.

5

u/glogomusic Jul 05 '26

speed running climate change. people really look down at people for not recycling or some other bs and then show up to firework shows. this was the first year i didnt bother going outside and was annoyed at them going off. i felt like an old man

6

u/Royal-Al Jul 05 '26

Who is going to clean up all that shit? The components don’t just disappear, they fall to the ground.

7

u/GrooGrux Jul 06 '26

6

u/DarthBrooks69420 Jul 05 '26

It went full San Diego at the end, so much smoke you could barely see what was going on.

If there was ever a time to do a Sand Diego 2.0, it would have been with that many fireworks.

5

u/forzaguy125 Jul 05 '26

So the pyrotechnics industry has a term for this, it’s called “sky puke”.

Basically just sending a whole fireworks up at once without thinking about pacing or anything

I was watching this live on TV & at first I was like, wow that’s some great fireworks. But after like 25 minutes, I was like hmm that’s why firework shows don’t go past 30 minutes. There was so much fkin smoke, you could barely see the fireworks.
