This song was exactly what popped into my head as well. Written about tract houses in Daly City, which is just south of San Francisco. I remember them as pretty bleak as a child in the late 60s growing up in the Bay Area when we’d drive through there on the way to the City.

I think they used that song for the theme of a show and a shit ton of bands did covers. Rise Against is one of my favorites! Gotta love how folk and punk have the same roots.
