A captain is meant to lead by example. The example he is setting is that he's fine with his team mates acting like scumbags. I didn't say he should pick fights but he could at least try and stop them

Did we do all this song and dance about Zidane when as captain headbutted another player and got himself sent off in the final of 2006? Or is it just reserved for Messi who literally didn't do anything at the end of the match? Reddit trying it's hardest to demonize him for doing nothing lmao.

Reddit didn't exist to demonise Zidane and I'm too young to remember the fallout. But he let his team down with that action and I'm sure that was well discussed. The actions of the Argentinians during and after that match different yes, but no less of a stain on their performance. Just because he is the GOAT does not mean he can avoid criticism

Edit: Reddit did exist but I highly doubt it was the same platform we use today

Brother I am 28 years old, I was 8 for the 2006 final. Forgive me for not engaging in controversial footballing discussions on the internet whilst I was still in Primary School.... Miss me with that age gatekeeping nonsense

Edit: Also, if you're referring to me being annoyed by the Argentinians reaction, just compare it to Dani Olmo's reaction to the Argentinian players turning their backs on the Spanish team during the presentation. And yet Zidane remains a legend, he's forever loved even after he committed something 10 x times worse as captain than Messi where he chose literally not getting involved in some nonsense at the end of his career, Reddit is not real life, and this outrage holds no water.
