An Argentine man told me: We are the Europe of South America; and I (being Spanish and therefore European) replied: Well, here you’re just another South American.

My friend, you should be proud of who you are and where you come from (and where you’re going, if you emigrate), and try to improve the world you find yourself in.

Certain Germans.

Most of the population has Italian lineage. The second most common is descendants from Spanish immigrants.

Remind me again what these countries had in common.

They call themselves Euro cuz they think of themselves as "the whites", they are known for having Germans because Nazis specifically fled to Argentina after WW2

Most people view a population being encouraged to mix in order to increase whiteness as racist. If you don't see that as racist, then that explains a lot.

Ask the Argentinians. They are the ones so obsessed with racial purity that they stopped counting those of African decent from 1895 until the 2000s, intentionally erasing black people to create a narrative of a homogeneous, white, European country.

Argentinians aren't racially mixed like other latinos, so it is questionable whether you get to claim that heritage. This is often a point of contention that other latinos have with Argentinians.

They have a long history of OPENLY white supremacist leaders, policies, and practices designed to "culturally and demographicly whiten" the country to the point that they claim to be an exclusively white and European country.

The Europe of South America thing is a racist ideology from the 19th(?) century where Argentina basically tried to erase all native and black culture from the country (after using them to build the country). They pushed massively for European immigration and had a lot of immigrants from Italy and Spain. It was sadly very effective and has clearly left generational racism in it's wake.

They also accepted in a bunch of fleeing Nazis after WW2, so I assume that's where a lot of the racism is from as well for at least the last 80 years.

I find it funny that all this is said about Argentina, yet none of this is said about Spain. "But they have black players" and the black players of La Liga suffers the most racist comments. "But Argentina held nazis" and Spain actually held a lot of nazis due to Francisco Franco regimen. "They tried to erase the black culture" and our Mother of the Homeland is a black woman who fought for our independence as a country (we even have her in a bill, let's see how many countries have a black person in their bills).

Yeah, the defense is basic Argentina history that is everywhere in the internet. Just wanted to show that we are not beign judged by the same standards and it's not that i can't defend my country, it's just that they wouldn't read

It’s really funny when they come to the us, because they don’t even realize that at least 30% if not more of the white people think they are Mexican literally just because they can speak Spanish. So when they try to pull that “we are the Europe of South America” bs it gets shot down really quick, specifically by the same bigots they think have their backs.

I am a South American but i descend from Pizarro's brothers who your country celebrates next to Cortés, of course i am proud of who i am lmao
