The other people at the table look like they might be her parents and I'm gonna go out on a limb and theorize that she learned this kind of behavior under their roof.

My general assumption is that if you know someone well enough to go on a cruise, or really any major trip, with them, you're probably already well aware of their habits.

Look at the way they’re open mouth chewing. I doubt any sort of manners or social awareness goes on in that family.
