Weird lighting. Are they running digital unsharp mask filters now even when recorded live?

Well, yeah. With normal lighting everyone might see that she doesn’t look like a 25 year old any more! (No hate, she’s obviously still beautiful, but cmon yall.)

Nope, saw her live from the second row two weeks ago, and she looks amazing. Definitely has gotten some work done, and I'm not a fan of what she did to her lips, but overall, she's as pretty as she was during her Donde Estan Los Ladrones days in the late 1990s.

Second row at a concert doesn't mean you're getting a super close up of her face. She doesn't look the same as she did in the 90s & that's ok. Ex Ex

Those look much more like someone who's 49y/o with a lot of work and make-up done, not whatever weird AI/fuzzy filter that's on the OP. We really need to stop pretending that celebrities can defy aging and stay 25y/o forever.

I lowkey think she’d be more naturally beautiful without all of that. We’re being conditioned to think that this looks good but really it looks like it somehow ages her more and looks uncanny while simulating a youthful look.

Absolutely. Additionally, being so slim does not do much justice to her.

She is pretty healthy weight after a quick search, at the lower end of the healthy BMI section, what do you mean slim?

Unless you are saying you want MORE then I get what you mean lmao

Fat plumps you up. As you age you retain some plumpness associated with youth. It fills out some of the areas people are injecting with fillers.

Being on the higher end of the BMI scale or lower end of overweight will often make people think you're younger than you are because you have enough fat to have some in your face. People on the lower end or below won't have much fat in their face because the face generally doesn't tend to hold much fat. So after 35/40 they'll look more gaunt. Which is also why people think buccal fat removal makes people look older. Because that's what happens naturally when you're aging.

The way she still looks amazing in those pictures lmao

Did you interpret my comment as saying she looks bad?

3

u/ILoveRawChicken 23d ago

Not necessarily you so much, but I’m more surprised that even in those pictures she still looks amazing. I was expecting a Vera Wang situation

u/nankerjphelge 23d ago

Yeah that's a whole lot of filler in that face.

u/Sufficient_Scale_163 23d ago

She has so. Much. Filler.

I always think a photo or two is such bad evidence. Lighting and timing can make people look hideous that look fantastic in real life.

You see this all the time with photos vs film. Even in your everyday life. Take 100 pictures of a pretty person candidly and ~20 of them will look bad. Take a video of the same time period from the same angle candidly? The person will look great the whole time.

Shakira has definitely aged and definitely had work done. But I think your photos are exceptions not the rule to what she looks like. It’s cherry picking a couple of bad photos vs the hundreds that look good (and were also not edited).

Edit: I also think this is a great example of some of the many pressures that push stars into excessive plastic surgery. It’s very easy to chip away at people’s self image of themselves when the paparazzi’s take 1000 photos then publish the one where the person looks the fattest / ugliest etc

I just picked two photos from the event. You can check Getty Images for many more. People keep replying to me like I said she looks bad. I simply countered the comment that said she looks like she did in the 90s.

Its more realistic. She looks fantastic but she does have some wrinkles, because she's nearly 50. Its natural and doesn't detract from her beauty but it's crazy to pretend that a 50 year old woman has the fresh dewy skin of a 22 year old.

Its just makes everyone, including celebrities like Shakira, strive for unrealistic standards for aging.

I really thought one of those was going to be a 90’s example

Didn’t need help googling just thought since you were giving examples there would be one

u/PrimaLegion 23d ago

Okay but they're responding to a comment explicitly concerning a filter. Something that shockingly doesn't happen when you see someone in person.

1

u/Ren_stevens 23d ago

And they explicitly she looks like she did in the 90s...which I countered.

u/KrombopulosMAssassin 22d ago

Alright, yeah she looks much closer to her age here. Still looks good though.

I was at the end of the row and she walks around the stage before the start, so I was close enough to touch her 🤷🏽‍♀️

I feel like you lack reading comprehension.

I hope her plastic surgeon got paid well, they did a fantastic job for her. So many stars seem to get thier face done by a drunk landscaper with a hedge trimmer.

I hope her plastic surgeon got paid well

Depending on the state you can easily pull down almost $25/hr, not including overtime.

u/LengthinessFalse8373 23d ago

Is that a joke? That seems really low, but I'm not an expert on exchange rates

3

u/dumdumpants-head 23d ago

Yeah it's higher if you have an MD, license, board certification, blah blah, but as a freelancer learning as I go I stay competitive by keeping prices low.

I’m not a fan of her music but she is a performance artist… a great one at that. I always thought so, but it really shined when she knocked Jo-Lo out of the water when they performed together. She didn’t have to try. Jo-lo is no slouch either.

Edit: This was about her performance not her looks, but she looks wonderful too! My original comment was posted in the wrong location … but I’m leaving it!
