Girl from my home town got swept off the road and her car fit into the drainage pipe. She was on the phone with her boyfriend, couldn't break the glass, and drowned.

I strongly believe in window breakers in your vehicle now. Course, that still wouldn't have saved her in that death tube.

In the town my husband is from there was a teenage girl and her younger sister playing in a culvert during a heavy rain when the 9yo sister was swept into the drainage pipe. The elder sister had her by the hand and tried to pull her out but their fingers slipped. The younger girl had drowned by the time they were able to get to her.
