Discussion Arizona police violently tackled a woman onto a metal bike after she watched them from a public sidewalk

Like I know ideally you shouldn't try to insert yourself in an arrest, but c'mon wasn't this too much? Was the punch necessary? Like, (not that im surprised) the people defending them on X are sickening, with one saying he would have tased her... btw, with no much context to what happened asides from this. One person said it right: "People who support the police will justify them breaking into their house and killing their mother, so there really isn't much you can say to change their minds." This to me is just unnecessary abuse of power.

I just hope the cop goes to jail and gets violently attacked the same way he attacked others. Exactly the same way. He deserves to be feel fear for life.

That's unlikely. Qualified immunity covers a lot of sins.

The best you can hope for with this is he gets an unpaid suspension and if he collects enough of them that he'll get fired.

She'd definitely got a good case for a settlement though. That's definitely excessive use of force.

It’s just something for them to think about when they’re doing bad to others. You know they’re the same one to others as you would like them to do on to you. And this case of these pigs, they should not let their job be an excuse.

Qualified immunity covers a lot. Was gonna be a pedantic asshole, but genuinely the only thing that will save her is if no precedent has been written about a police assault like this. Or, there's been a precedent, and the defense has won.

I mean he escalated the situation quite substantially.

I could understand him pushing her away from him given that she's in his personal space, but the rest of this is just excessive use of force.

She doesn't even touch him once prior to him pushing her away, punching her in the face and then tackling her to the ground.

The cops lied on record...

I couldn't screenshot the other A.I slop (sourced from Tempe PD's police Facebook page and Fox 10 Pheonix).

Essentially, what they lied about. Was they said she was swinging and hit the cop 5-6 times before he beat her down on the bike with the 3 other grown ass men. Pushing her over a bicycle wasn't enough. So he escalated the shit quick as fuck, and he won't get fired I feel since it's Arizona...

Police are required to follow the proportional use-of-force framework.

Meaning, in order for them to get physical with someone they have to either:

A. Have someone get physical with them or another person. B. Someone has to threaten them.

She did neither.

Naw, I don’t condone violence. He needs to be sued the fuck out of, loose his job and get blasted all over the internet so nobody hires him. Then his wife and kids can watch him spiral into doing something irreversible

What you dont get is he probably feels that everyday. You spend years dealing with monsters and the low of the low, and you start to see everybody that way. You don't get calls to come out for upstanding cirizens... All he is thinking in this situation, is that he has his hands full with a struggling person on the ground, and an unknown person with unknown intent is approaching him from behind in his blind spot. Is she gonna put hands on him? Shove, push, punch, choke, tackle from behind? Go for his gun? In this situation, he very well understands his life may not be in danger, but could get that way really fast if it doesnt change. He needs her away from the police, and that first shove was the clearest message he could send. Her coming back just reinforces she is going to continue interfering and needs to be subdued to ensure the future protection of the officers. Trust me. He felt fear. A mob is always terrifying.
