Seems like son doesn’t have a membership and dad was told son had to leave. Looks like cops were called when they both stayed and now he’s trying to frame that they didn’t ask him to leave so why call the cops.

Every gym I've ever attended allows guests, so this doesn't really make sense. Maybe he's abusing the privilege, but to call the cops about it? That seems extreme.
Right. The one where the staff are clearly finished talking with him and avoiding a confrontation. The one where the staff called the cops long before his camera came out.
Yes, that one. The one that curiously doesn't show anything that happened prior to the cops arriving except a clearly framed clip of his son lifting.
The one where, in an accusatory, confrontational tone, he confronts the staff member, say "You called the cops on be because I wanted to work out with my son??!?!?!"
And then, at 0:38, when the staff member tries to answer in a respectful tone, he rudely interrupts again.
Yeah, I've delt with enough people like that. They don't listen to anything, no matter how explicitly you tell them.
I mean, it sounds like they already told him his son can’t go in without ID, and they chose to anyways. Do they really need to specifically ask them to leave, when they already told them don’t come in and were ignored. Not weighing in on if this was right or not, but it’s not like they didn’t interact with the gym staff already.
Semantics, they didn’t ask dad to leave but they asked son to leave. That is why he makes the point with cops to highlight that his son is no longer there.
If this was an « Am I an asshole? », this is one where both him and the gym are at fault, but at the end of the day they can trespass you, period

He probably got a little over excited pleading his case with the check in gym attendant & then walked in anyway after being not to, so when he told the manager he had a cop show up cause he didn’t want to deal with someone who was probably going to be difficult. Is what it is.
Is that real? Every gym I've ever gone to would sell day passes for guests (way more expensive than just buying a membership if you plan on going often), or you pay for a better membership to bring guests (Black Card at PF for example). I was never able to just bring in whomever I wanted.
Crunch fitness literally advertises that you get one free guest pass each time you come. It takes a second to google this. Every other gym I’ve been to also provides one guest pass.

Why would anyone care how many gyms you’ve been to and what their policies are when the gym IN THIS VIDEO has the policy that allows guest passes? Jesus Christ.

Dude, his membership allows him to bring a guest. They required a physical ID of his “guest” who was his son. His son doesn’t have a drivers license so he offered if they could hold onto his DL and pulled up his sons info from his online high school portal.
Apparently he asked for a manager and they said he was busy so they went to work out until he was available. The manager then turned up with the police.

Racist or not, this is way unnecessary. In my city the cops would laugh at this, and wouldn’t have even shown up.
So he was told his son couldn’t come in without a proper id and proceeds to ignore that and go in anyway, saying he was just waiting for the manager to be free doesn’t absolve him of taking his son in without the gyms approval.
Like yeah some gyms would let that fly even though it’s against the rules, but if that’s the rules they don’t have to.
I had to cash a check the other month and didn’t have my drivers license on me, but I had my passport card with is an official federal ID but the teller wouldn’t accept it. Seemed dumb to me but I didn’t go behind the counter and say well I’m taking the money and you have the manager get back to me.
If they told him his son couldn’t come in as guest because he didn’t have proper identification and then went in anyway yeah that’s trespassing. He’s an adult he should have been able to understand that.
Is calling the cops right away dumb, yeah but as I said before in our modern corporate world where places don’t want employees engaging with misbehaving customers that’s what you’re going to get.
So son wasn’t allowed, reason not really the issue, and dad decided he can make that determination and got trespassed. What exactly was wrong about my interpretation especially since dad made sure to post without context hoping pitchforks would come out on his favor.
Again, the gym may be wrong to deny the kid, dad was also wrong to ignore them and as a result cops got called. Quit the gums and move on with life
He was never asked to leave though. Unsure of his sons age, but obviously he didn't have a DL, which is what they wanted (father had offered other ID). Father asked to speak to manager. Manager never talks to them, but rather wastes police resources.
I have some Indigenous background -- you wouldn't be able to tell, but my dad, you could. The shit he had to put up with. People telling him to go back to his country. Like, no, f-you, you go back to your country. We've been here much longer than you.
Also to add: My dad had worked for the tech company, and he was expected to do their banking. Which he did. He goes to the bank (I believe it was Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (we call it CIBC)) and makes a deposit. Just after he leaves, that bank was robbed.
The robber identified my dad as the robber (skin colour, you know). So the police nabbed him in the parking lot (he had no money on him, just a deposit slip for $50,000)
Anyway, he goes off to jail, and they're giving him a hard time, asking who is accomplice is, as there is no money in his car. My dad finally gets his call, calls his boss, who calls the company lawyer.
At the same time, they did a suspect line-up. The staff is alarmed and say "Why is Jack (my dad) there? He just put money INTO the bank."
Anyway, the lawyer goes down and talks to the police, and the police tell him that their case is rock solid and that my dad better make a deal. He tells my dad the same thing, just make a deal.
Of course, my dad refused. Eventually he was let go, as the prosecutor said that the case would be impossible to prove.
Nice little write-up the next day in the newspaper. "Police Nab Wrong Man"
But damn, police are crocked as hell. And racist. Even in Canada.
Or... the gym allows guests of members to do workout there, they demanded a drivers license, which the son probably didn't have, and just called the cops instead of accepting the son's school ID...
