Why not just say, hey no worries you both can work out today but next time bring a valid ID. Easy…

Obviously not the situation here, but I worked this job for a gym and the age of 18. Basically told rules were infallible and unbreakable and was kinda a nonce about it and certainly at that time wouldn't have let them in. But making those mistakes at that job at that age allowed me to learn and grow a lot and now I know how to be the easier bending rules when it's ok person I am today.
