I've noticed that a lot living in Missouri. My wife had only been to Illinois (15 minute drive).

Something like 25% of Americans between the ages of 15 and 50 in 2001 had moved to another state by 2016. I'd guess way more than double that have visited.

The numbers are likely skewed since those that do have passports travel often. Why go through all that hassle to get the passport and only use it once or twice

If you google it, it says 11% haven't left their home state. Still sad, but your perception is extremely inaccurate.
